Nice, now if you get some seeds from the mushroom "trees" you can start your own mushroom farm.

My Mushroom farm, the side to the right is an experiment to see if I can grow any tree like mushrooms.

I got only one seed, it said it was a mushroom grass seed. so if i plant it on a dirt block will mushrooms grow? And do the small mushrooms eventually grow into those huge ass tree mushrooms?

They said I could become anything so I became everything.

No mushrooms won't grow on dirt blocks, you need to collect mud blocks. As well you have to plant them in the stone layer (the layer where the background is a dirt with stones in it). As well I'm not sure, that's why I'm attempting an experiment. In one of the wiki's it said if your grow area is big enough it would eventually start growing the tree like mushrooms.

Check out this tutorial on how to grow them.

So I decided to upload my level if anyone is interested.

It's nothing real special but it does have an obsidian machine ( when used you'll only end up refilling the lava but if you know the duplication trick this is no problem) and contains a secure magic mushroom farm(you only have to worry about worms which don't appear that often).

Download - Media Fire
VirusTotal Report

Also I have a ton of mud blocks in one of the chests so you can easily expand the mushroom farm.

I can't connect to any server, it just sits at "connecting to *IP number*" and doesn't do anything.

So Notch taking the idea from Infiniminer is original. Thanks for that. Terraria is based more on the combat aspect while Minecraft is for design with what seems combat to be an after thought.

"Some people have gotten upset, calling it [Terraria] a 'ripoff' of Minecraft. Your response?"

"Everything is a clone of a copy of something else."

Taken right from his twitter. The CREATOR of Minecraft doesn't mind/think that it's a rip-off, so why are people like you shitting themselves over this? Just for good measure, here are some other quotes from Notch.

"If Terraria is our competition, I'm damned proud to compete against it. It's one seriously awesome game. *takes notes of things to copy*" -- This shows that he has a sense of humor of the situation. He obviously doesn't think it's a ripoff.

"We just played maaany hours of Terraria. Very, very fun! :D" ... He likes the game.

Can you people stop calling it a rip-off, now? On another note, I like and bought both games. Sometimes I'm in the mood for Minecraft, sometimes Terraria.

Bull fucking shit.

Here's the sure fire way to survive Minecraft:

Step 1: make a wooden House

Step 2: No question marks, straight to profit.

You're joking, right? Building a wooden house takes a few minutes. Building a fucking castle takes days. Who's wasting their time? Also, bullshit, imagination. Every single thing you could possibly build is already make. Thousands of castles have seen build. Thousands of wooden mansions have been build. There's literally nothing you can do that's original.

Exactly, Minecraft doesn't emphasize on survival, it emphasizes on building. That's not a problem or anything either, Minecraft does it very well, and I love it for that.

Anyway, on topic, I'm pretty much on the "I'm bored because there is nothing to do now" boat.

That's my point! The survival aspect was just tacked on my Notch. The combat system is garbage, and killing enemies only serves to give you more stuff to fight with (except maybe dynamite, but that's banned in most servers anyway). Minecraft is a building game, nothing more.

So does this game have an actual goal to it?

Beat all 3 bosses, that's pretty much it.

Takes a while to be able to defeat all 3 of them, though.

That would require a very powerful PC to run decently. I doubt that you're going to see many servers with a 255 cap.

Meh, thats good enough for me.
I just bought the game, mostly because Minecraft lags like a whore on my PC and I get bored of it quickly.
Download just finished.

Uh.. when I try to start the game it says "Performing first time setup... installing: xnafx40_redist.msi (step 1 of 1)" ..and then it just closes. And nothing happens. Help? I've tried reinstalling, checking file integrity etc.

Quit sucking, the game hasn't even started yet and you're losing.

Try doing all of this, I made this post a few pages back for someone else having problems.

First, you need to make sure your graphics adapter(video card) is compatible with XNA. Intel chipsets do NOT support XNA, therefore if you're using one of those you can't run Terraria.

If your graphics adapter IS compatible with XNA, then I would try updating your drivers.

Then I would go to properties and Verify the Integrity of game cache, that probably isnt it, but I would still do it to be safe.

If that doesn't work, make sure you have .NET Framework 4 and the XNA redistributable 4.0 installed.

.NET Framework 4

XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0

And if it still doesn't work after that, I dunno. I would email the developers or post in the support forum.

I started a new character and level and I've died more then when I first got the game. Seriously you don't realize how strong your character and equipment are until you start over.

Slimes are such a pain in the ass.
