Is there ever going to be a valid reason? All music is subjective, it just happens most of us don't like Pantera.
Why they're shit: Phil Anselmo's vocals and lyrics. He's a cockend and all that macho 'RAWR FUCKING POWER GRRR' stuff just turns me off.
And the core influence of course.

What has Sampras got to do with this?

Youtube has proved me wrong. For the first time in my life, I consider the term 'Heavy Fucking Metal' appropriate.

Got a PM about shit GOIN' DOWN in this thread... I've deleted most of the recent posts that are starting arguments or participating in / continuing them, and I'm leaving this post to remind you all to take it easy and contact a mod if someone's causing trouble.

As far as use of the word fag / faggot goes (as I saw it was being discussed earlier), just try not to use it at all. Regardless of whether you're using it in an offensive manner or not, there's just no need for it and you never know if you're going to unwittingly offend someone.

Cheeeeeers

To me, Pantera was good on their older albums (Projects in the jungle, Power Metal) It was a lot more traditional heavy. Cowboys from Hell was nice to hear once in a while, but after that...it just sounds like shit...I mean, that song "Walk" it's the same thing over and over again, hoe can people like that? :S

You listened to them? They're really great. I've mostly been listening to the album "Thrash Metal" a couple tracks being Let Blood Rain and Evil Unleashed.

I know you mean though, I thought At the Gates was core when I heard the name, until I actually heard them. I've learned that you can't tell by the name.

I'm not gonna read all that shit, but why would you think we're jealous of corpsebag? When I hear great music, I don't get jealous. I listen to it and enjoy it, which is why I don't listen to any Pantera beyond Cowboys From Hell, since while that one album was awesome, the rest was boring as fuck groove metal. What's wrong with groove metal? It's groove metal. It's just not a good style.

pretty close to what I expected. It's acceptable, but you really have to stop being such a cunt if you want to stick around. Nobody's gonna make you stop listening to Pantera. It doesn't matter.

Not all of Rob's songs sound metal but almost Marilyn Manson/Sonic Mayhem-like to me. However, there are some that does though, like "Let It All Bleed Out".

Anddd I realize it's already been said. Oh well. I want to see te little twat put up an arguement of how Pantera back in the glam/hair metal days was any more metal than Nile back in the day, or any other death metal band better suited to be "compared" back in that era.

Also I'd just like to add that I was given a burnt copy of Panteras best of, and like everyone else, the first 5 times it was ok to listen to, then it just got bland.

Haha, I sure do. I didn't care for the vocals, except for the epic highs the vocalist held for 20 seconds and the guitars. And I agree with you guys, Walk was pretty annoying and definitely overrated, but the solo was pretty cool. No matter how bad or good Phil was, Dime was without a doubt an amazing guitarist.

And about Blood Tsunami; they've got some sweet tracks, I actually heard about them a while ago when I goggled thrash metal. I wish they had more albums though.

Anyway sorry I was an asshole earlier. I was PMS'ing and what not.

Anorexia Nervosa. I can't stress enough how unbelievable, yet underrated this band is. Redemption Process is by far their greatest album, you must check it out.

Anorexia Nervosa.

They're good, but they could be alot better if they tried alot harder. I kinda feel that they focus more on being chaotic and "true" then anything else. They are good though and I have an LP of Daudenhaus - their best release.

As for DragonLord, I prefer Testament and Dark Funeral is amazing, but their new stuff is shitty.

Favorites (in no particular order): Marduk, Avichi, Ovskum, Emperor, Angantyr, Corpus Christii, Dark Fortress, Rotting Christ, Deathspell Omega, Krypt, Ondskapt, Exiled from Light, Horna, Ildjarn, Mgla, Drowning the Light, Summoning, Taake, Tsjuder and Windir.

finally black metal gets brought up.

I like the more rock type of black metal, venom, celtic frost, and maybe satyricon.

And Sigh because of their originality and excellent vocals.

Yeah, so if Sum41 were the ones that coined the term "punk" would that make them punk? Fuck no.

They are thrash metal, pure and simple.

Then I could say Death is thrash metal, but they're not. Venom is early black metal, other bands simply added on to the genre with new vocal styles or whatever else.
