I think its too much. There are already too many other jams that are not newgrounds related for people to participate in. I think you're better off doing 1 or 2 a year and trying to get really good entries to bring up the status & standards of the newgrounds game jam. If you do what you have suggested, before long, the newgrounds jam entries will be so shitty because everyone good will move on because they will be unable to participate this often and quality will suffer.

I understand its nice to have free content. Of course we love newgrounds and we love to give you free content, but I'm not sure I totally agree with this decision.

Hey Luis, and any other animators who read this, which do you think is harder, doing art for games or animations? You mentioned doing both, Luis, so I'm particularly interested in hearing from you.

I would imagine doing art for games is harder in general, but I might be wrong.

Sweet and the game jam in april should definitely relate to pico day

January 28-30... for college students, that is around the beginning of the Spring semester.

February 25-27... that misses out on Valentine's Day. Think of it! If the jam was for the 12-14th, then the regular folk would probably devise a number of demented collaborations parodying the holiday of romance and love (or come up with something actually sweet for a change). Since it is a game jam, they would also be interactive.

March 18-20 hits right around St. Patrick's Day. Few days later is the equinox.

April 15-17 is too far from Pico Day for it to be relevant/thematic toward the titular date. Bump it up a week.

May 13-15... when's Mother's Day?

I don't care when the June Game Jam takes place.

And I can care even less about Comic-Con. How about this: the Newgrounds folk conduct research into the local Cons in their areas, and construct a Flash about them instead! Or Cons in general. There is a wellspring of satire to be found in any convention, much of it scathing.

I have no objections to August's dates.

9/11 will definitely be a "Yank" thing, especially since that would be the tenth anniversary. Under no circumstances should that be switched. Before anybody protests, let the jam be a free-for-all and let the participants' sentiments guide their creations. There are bound to be a few who recall that day.

I am so fackin' sick of zombies. I really am. What happened to Lovecraft's Mythos or Carmella or any number of nightmarish horrors that used to mesmerize the collective imagination of the Newgrounds audience? No, it's all about sucking brains and endless gallons of gore! BORING! The only Gore I appreciate is a Bastard with an electric guitar, and he will sic his Slurpers of Death upon all of you zombie-obsessed zombies without a single thought otherwise.* Find a theme to fill my sights. Otherwise, go peek around in a crackhouse!

November... ah, I don't care.

The December Jam doesn't step on anybody's toes, either. A thematic jam any closer to a date like that is just not worth the time for some people. It doesn't need to change.

That's my take on the tentative schedule... it looks okay but could use a few extra tweaks.

* - Look up "Attack of the Slurpers of Death" in the Audio Portal; it leads you to ManSpider, GoreBastard's ancient alternate account. Gratuitous comic horror mischief awaits.

Any teams around the Bristol (UK) area fancy joining forces for the next few movie jams? I only just joined and I'm up for doing some animation.

So, the next movie jam is in two days, right?
Will it be like the last one, with us members submiting themes for the videos?

Here is a rough draft of what this calendar could look like and I'm interested in feedback. Let me know if this conflicts with any common exam periods, holidays, etc. NG event days included for reference.

Jams could typically run from Friday @ 7pm until Sunday @ 7pm if that sounds good. The theme could vary for each jam to maximize excitement.
