I really don't want to see Capello or Rooney slated by the media for this though, it happens every time and it just disgusts most people as far as I've experienced.

It's a shame we couldn't have lost to a slightly less embaressing scoreline.

Do you ever wonder what would have happened if England had won the group and U.S had finished second?

I think both would have won the matches.

England would have demolished Ghana in my belief because England plays a style of Football that makes Ghana's speed and power irrelevant.

The U.S.A i believe would have beat Germany because they both play similar games and the U.S do infact have better athletes then Germany the latter is just extremely well organized.

Scott Murray
guardian.co.uk, Sunday 27 June 2010 13.28 BST

"FULL TIME: Germany 4-1 England. England's worst World Cup finals defeat in history is sealed. By all accounts, there was 54 seconds between Matthew Upson's goal and Frank Lampard's crazy ping over the line. Now, it was a disgraceful decision not to allow that goal, and if it was given much might have changed. But it effectively means that England played well for 54 seconds out of 90 minutes. A terrible show, and an especially pathetic defensive performance."

As an Englishman, I'd like to say well done to Germany for winning the match. It doesn't bother me how bad England were, it's just a game at the end of the day. Better luck next time England.

It's a shame that because we got beaten so badly, instead of like 2-1, that they'll just try and ignore the mistake by the ref and go "well it didn't matter anyway". That shouldn't matter, it's a clear sign that they need to change things.

Finally someone's talking about how well Germany performed.
Klose is a hell of a fastman, if only he had a bit more stamina, maybe he could kill defences for the full 90 as opposed to being subbed. Although that might have been tactical, i didn't pay attention to who subbed him.
And Ozil... my god, man of the match, clear and indisputable. If you disagree with that, you're a blind fanatic. Two consecutive assists that, as soon as he lifts his head and sees his man on the other end of the pitch, it just makes your whole body relax and say "yeah, goal...". If only he didn't look so retarded, he could be the German CR9.

England quite possibly had the best fans and the worst team. The fans and the media hype up England far too much, and the team lives on that glory. Hopefully, this will kick their egos into shape and make them realise how bad they have become.
Also, it seems the fans are very fickly. Passion turns to hate very very quickly.

I made the right decision to watch Sans soleil instead of the match then. All of the status updates on Facebook are typically 'what the fuck least we won the war'. At least Sans soleil is too confusing to be summed up briefly in English. Beautiful though, regardless.

Erm anyway.

lol, too bad guys. There's always Brazil '14.

Well done to Germany, I hope you guys enjoy yourselves tonight (while eyeing up Argentina possibly, haha?). I have a soft spot for the German team myself, and I wish them the best of luck in the rest of the tournament. I would not be surprised if they reached the final.

Might watch highlights later. I'm sure the disallowed goal will be shown plenty though, and I will probably get tired of that soon enough anyway.

The media and the fans will never change. The next world cup will have the same hype, and will the others.

I just wish they would keep it in their own country

Awful defense and a goal that could have done so much for the english team but as everyone said "shit happens", as FIFA keeps denying the use of technology we'll keep having these injustices throughout all the major tournaments.

Now let's sit back and wait for Argentina v Mexico.

Ref fucked up on Lampard's goal. Could have affected the entire mentality during the second half and lost England the game. That said:

Germany fucking raped us. Colossally raped. With a rusty iron file. That has jagged razor blades on it.

Lmao I've got my uncle saying if we didn't have a foreign coach.

Nah but whilst I think we were totally cheated with that second goal (and it could of changed our own mentality), you gotta hand it to the Germans. Well done.

That being said, I'd want the Argies to win if they face them :)

Oh god fuck no. Fuck the Argies. In the ear. Germany legitimately kicked our arse and deserve to win with those last two goals.

That ref is still a dead man walking though. Wanker.

Re: English fans and media, sports.

To put it brief:

I obviously don't like the way that misaimed right-wing rants (with side orders of thinly-veiled racism) are popularised anymore than the majority of you guys, though it needs to be taken lightly in some cases - you just learn to ignore the worst of it here. In a moment of optimism, the fans used to be arguably much worse in general. Chew that one over for a second.

But yeah, it's not all of us (though we on the outside do welcome it as a humourous stereotype most of the time). Just to push a mild agenda, I ponder that it might be particularly rash right now due to the recession. Recession does not cool tabloid headlines make.

And it's stuff like this that make me despair over the Olympics in '12. Ugh.

Somewhat fair point, haven't all world cup winners had native coaches?

It must help communication

With us I'm not sure if it makes a difference.

I mean look at Steve McClaren :P

Changing the topic, what's your bet for Mexico vs Argentina?

I'm mexican and, of course, i want Mexico to win. I think we have players that might be able to do some damage to their "slow" defense.
We must take Messi out of the game, if we dont, we're dead. And we must take care from Milito, Tevez, Higuain....I know this sounds difficult on paper, but we must stay optimistic and, hopefully, make history.

What do you guys think?
