I don't keep names up to date on that list. Or at least, I didn't until now. I probably will for the web version, so don't worry, it won't read Pillz-E on today's update.

I stopped updating names on the BBS version of the list back when I changed from 4 columns (QuadList with b/p) to 5 columns (pentalist with blams and saves) is that if I just automatically pulled names with NGL and pasted the names in, some of the lines would wrap incorrectly due to people with LONGASSNAMESLIKETHIS that fuck everything up. See, many of you namechanging foolios pick names that are so long they'll wrap the line and screw up the look of the list. Superlongname + "-10" in the rankchange leads to a broken/split line, see? Anywho. I'll manually change yours, since you seem to be sticking with this name for now but this is an exception.

Thanks. Probably not as much time as you think, but... careful consideration was put into it, yes. It was basically the work of one evening and one morning, though. 12 hours tops. But that was the entire coding of the excel spreadsheet, the HTML tweaking, the site itself, getting the colours right, etc. etc. I'll never have to spend that long again, even if I do twin BBS/web updates as I'm thinking about attempting in a few hours here.

It makes complete sense. The database accessing is what concerned James the most with my BPHelper program, because the original incarnation was built on an idea inspired by your good self... access the current PID + 1, and see if anything's there yet. But every time that page is pulled, it puts strain on the DB; whereas reloading the Portal page doesn't, since the Portal only accesses the database for information when a new movies is uploaded.
The main problem I foresee with James' comments is that he's so busy, constantly, that I can't help but wonder when he'll get round to implementing the official lists. I know he also has plans for a major AP revamp, and I should imagine there are many other areas of the site that take priority..... poor guy could do with a full time helper really, I wonder if that's being considered or can even be afforded by NG.
