Update date: Saturday, January 8th, 2005
Welcome to this weekend's update of the Top 500 Voting Power List! #500 is holding at 7.32 VP. The number of tracked people in the spreadsheet is frozen at 1283 until ShittyKitty gets back from his winter vacation in mid-January and resumes data pulls for his NGTL.
There were six rankups in the top 100 VP this week. Congrats to X-Naut, Syme (IV_KOME_4_U), wismty, Nijsse, good_guy_o, and James (FIGMENTUM). SUPER congrats to X-Naut, Syme, and Nijsse for those excellent EG General rankup boosts (+0.49, +0.47, and +0.45 respectively... heh! Nice 0.02 differentials between 'em there). Also, a huge welcome back to our very own James, who is now making his THIRD entrance to the top 100. His rankup puts him right at #100, and once again he's in a tenuous position. Still, better to be fighting for a spot... than nowhere within range. And speaking of within range, it looks like our very own jonthomson may be joining him in top 100-edgeness upon his next rankup. That is, of course, assuming that no other huge Nijsse-esque EGG rankups boost people right past the both of them from the 100-120 range to the 80-100 range, as happened today. No new 10+, 11+, 12+, etc. peoples this week, but a dl_Monk's on the verge of 12 with 11.99 and nimmer's on the verge of 11 with 10.99 and Syme's on the verge of 10 with 9.95, so the coming weeks should bring those people over those marks. One note/plea/whatnot: The area around 8.00 has turned into a graveyard. Tons of inactive depositers or people not depositing more than a couple times per week... dropping like flies into the 7.90s... it's kinda depressing (8.00+ is -1 this week, the only change of any grouping). So anyway, if any of you inactive/less-active 7.90-8.10 people are reading this... REPRESENT, eh? You gotta pull for your section(s) of the list. Don't let the guys down--get some exp, eh?! ;_; Anywho.... Good luck to everyone with their individual struggles.
And speaking of individual struggles... If you haven't been following the exchanges in here, the pentalist topic, and Dogma's list topics today, the review-link change in our profiles has rendered SK's NG Lister useless for the time being, and Dogma and I were faced with the unpleasant prospect of manual list updating today. As a result of this, the pentalist update scheduled for today has been DELAYED... indefinitely. I've got some work to do on a possible change to a web version of that list, anyway, so I'll probably spend some free time this coming week experimenting with that instead, and we'll see when the update gets done. Maybe next Saturday, maybe sooner. Maybe later. It could be a full two weeks from now, at worst case (as though I skipped a cycle, basically). Anywho, short story long: I was going to update this morning, but I was tired, so I took a snooze, went out and did some errands, had lunch, watched TV, etc. etc. And didn't end up starting the VP data pull until evening. I was around #350 on the list (ahhh, just like the old days) after 2 hours or so of work when I checked my e-mail and discovered Denvish had coded us listmakers a stand-in version of SK's NG Lister: NG Grabber. Denvish, I thank you very much for this, I'll be e-mailing you about some issues and stuff... It's probably my ancient computer's fault (or the program being 4 megs instead of a few hundred Ks, like NG Lister is, in combination with that), but it took quite some time to grab data, and I kept getting timeouts and the like. But in the end, I pulled from around 400 to around 620 on the list (well past the #500 spot so I didn't miss anyone, and am ready for next week's update, too) with NG Grabber, and even if it didn't speed things up, it prevented me from having to visually note EACH and every VP amount, as I had been doing up till then (and of course, as I did for almost a full year of VP list updating). So anyway, it was an interesting mix of nostalgic old-fashioned hard-work list updating and experimentation/experiencing Denvish's take on SK's program to finish it off. Not an entirely un-fun evening, but not the greatest day in my list updating life, either. So, there's a huge ramble for those of you who like such things! And that pretty much explains, I hope, the entire situation with both my lists for now. Depending on how the profile changes remain or continue or stay the same... and on when SK can get his code retooled... and on when I decide to update the pentalist... I may end up using Denvish's program to do the pentalist data-pulling, or I may wait until I can use SK's program. But either way, if it's a choice between manual and NG Grabber next saturday for THIS list, I'll be trying to go with NG Grabber all the way. In 15 user chunks, as seems to work best on my computer. #;-}>
