Hearing Mario Galaxy's soundtrack has gotten me into the orchestra music, and Rosalina's Comet Observatory piece stood out more to me than any of the other songs in the game.

After listening to the song so many times, I said to myself that I just have to make a different arrangement of this song. Although there wasn't too many genre choices I favored that I felt could fit well with this piece. Hip-hop/Rap is among my favorite genres, but hearing an arrangement of this song in that genre was out of the question. It just wouldn't capture the same smooth and elegant feel the original piece gave me.

I was thinking of making it into a similar Jazz/R&B fusion like I did with my previous submission of the S3&K sub-boss music, but I felt that it could do a little better with a more melodic focuse than sharing it with a rhythmic one.

So I opted for a smooth jazz rendition. This song was hard as hell to find a perfecting intro melody to go along with it, especially for a noob at music like me, so I had to experiment A LOT just to find a way to get an intro to be as elegant as the song itself is suppose to be. Some of my experiments were really crappy, so I had to listen to outside tunes just to get an idea, mainly the saxophonist Kenny G in his tunes just to get a good intro piece. They served me well and I was able to get past the first bit that I was struggling on.

Anyway, on to the main point: the music. This piece has a bit more of a starry, twilight feel to it. It's as if you were dancing with Rosalina herself on a romantic view onboard her comet observatory (boy I know I would love to dance with her if she were real). The intro would match a visual of Rosalina and her dance partner (place yourself in that position if you want) walking into the center of focus to begin the courtship, then they get close...well, it's like how people dance to smooth jazz or R&B, really loving and romantically. Then they start to dance.

The peice is meant to be really soothing, but I'm not exactly finished with this yet, but so far everything seems to be working out pretty well for me. I think I need to get a bit of a guitar bass and a little bit of rhythm to add to the piece, and so far it's just piano and saxophone, and I want to give the intro more soul and heart to it, but I'll see what I can cook up to get to the finisher.

So enjoy this little preview. Kinda sounds a bit like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star at the end, doesn't it? XD
