Reviews for "Voiceless (Legacy version)"

So as someone who's unlocked The Kid in Super Meat Boy, I'd like to say I'm at least decent at 2D Platformers. However this game was very cumbersome to play, to the point I couldn't get to the first checkpoint in level 1. Most rhythm games let you focus on just the song, and if they don't the gameplay usually matches the music. In this game, the beat of any given song is way too difficult to hear or react to. The visual representation at the bottom screen does not do much either, as I have to focus on that and avoid obstacles. Having to divide attention between 2 big things like that leads to an incredibly steep learning curve, and makes even the simplest platforming extremely stressful. Now that's not to say there wasn't stuff I liked. The sprite work is incredible here, and the music itself is pretty good (although not fit for a rhythm game). I look forward to what you make next, and for a one man project this was certainly impressive. However the game in its current state is too stressful and unintuitive for me to give it even 3 stars. I hope you are able to improve upon this concept in the future, because I think the basic idea is cool.

I will improve the review once I know for sure what I think. At the moment, I am doing this to report a bug. Sometimes when respawning the character will be invisible

concept is neat, execution is far from desirable.
normally in any kind of platform you have the ability to move and jump whenever, but you're not synchronizing those jumps at all with anything. the blinking box at the beginning for example it's out of sync with the song playing, and is also a HUGE hinderance to the player. something like that usually comes later after you've learned the controls and how to play. What this does it throws you right into it no explanation and expects you to just know how to play.

Starting out with an easier level and a tutorial is always mandatory for new concepts especially when trying to match timing. The things at the bottom seem to go to a beat i can't hear so there is no audible syncup whatsoever for most people AND I PLAY WITH HEADPHONES. Cool concept but you're forcing too many things on the player at once. Could be better if executed better.

i personally enjoy tough platformers, adding a rhythm mechanic to it was an interesting change, however having to stop so i can catch up with the rhythm of the music so that i can then go back to platforming is a little annoying, maybe if only the abilities are rhythm based and the jumping and movement were free control it would be better, great first attempt though
