So as someone who's unlocked The Kid in Super Meat Boy, I'd like to say I'm at least decent at 2D Platformers. However this game was very cumbersome to play, to the point I couldn't get to the first checkpoint in level 1. Most rhythm games let you focus on just the song, and if they don't the gameplay usually matches the music. In this game, the beat of any given song is way too difficult to hear or react to. The visual representation at the bottom screen does not do much either, as I have to focus on that and avoid obstacles. Having to divide attention between 2 big things like that leads to an incredibly steep learning curve, and makes even the simplest platforming extremely stressful. Now that's not to say there wasn't stuff I liked. The sprite work is incredible here, and the music itself is pretty good (although not fit for a rhythm game). I look forward to what you make next, and for a one man project this was certainly impressive. However the game in its current state is too stressful and unintuitive for me to give it even 3 stars. I hope you are able to improve upon this concept in the future, because I think the basic idea is cool.
