Reviews for "We're not ants !"

what the heck am i doing?! i am watching freaking bugs, not even real bugs o.O

plopix responds:

They're real ! They're just made of pixels.

First of all, i like it and gave 5 Stars. The Gameplay is easy but the Game has still some minor "bugs". Just tiny things that wont break the Gameplay. These are that the tiny Critters sometimes move out of the Map and vanish or didn't find a path back to dump the found rescources. But, in my personal opinion, there is one thing that could need some balancing. The Egg spawn rate feels like a punishment for a bigger Colony. The Upgrade that reduces the Spawnrate is not very helpfull if you reach 70+ Critters. And there are two Things i would like to see in futher Upgrades: First one is a Building (Farm) that produces a small ammount of Food. Like a regrowing Shroom that my tiny workes could harvest again and again. (not Auto generating) And the second one is that i have the ability to mark a specific Target for my Soliders. Maybe that i can "spray" something on the Enemy and all Soliders were attracted to the Enemy in a certain Radius.

Yes, units sometime got pushed off the screen by enemies when cornered.
I've tweaked the fighting system a bit in latest update so that it happens less, but I still have to find a way to totally prevent it from happening (I actually had an idea about it this morning, I'll try it today). Also sometimes workers'path is messed up when they bounce off a wall while calculating pathfind to queen or hole. That's quite a complex issue, and to be honest all my tries so far to fix it did not succeeded and created other pathfinding issues. But i'll find a way (or if not, at least a workaround so that you still can modify their path with phero when it happens).

Love the game. im having an issue where I cant spawn any more of the big guys. it stays 0/5 forever

plopix responds:

Hi. Subimagos and imagos both need a nest for the cocoon to spawn. If you're switching between different maps, make sure you have at least one nest on this map for the unit to spawn. More nests make your units respawn faster, as several cocoon can be made at the same time.

i would like to have a option to drag a box to tell them to destroy those block in that are with out double clicking but so far a great game. 4.5/5

plopix responds:

You... Lazy! :D
Some people reported that they got a bit lost at the beginning because of the not-restricted ability to mine so much walls at once, so I don't think I'll implement that in this version.
But it would be handy in a sequel with more buildings, so I keep that for a future version with a different gameplay. I don't really like clickfests either. ;)

This is a very interesting strategy game. Being an entomology enthusiast (not a researcher, just an enthusiast) I really enjoyed playing it.

Like most idle games, all you do is give general instructions for your workers to carry out their tasks. In this case, the workers are larvae, generated by a big queen of sorts, and they discover useful things, explore by wandering around and take resources back to this big hole in the ground, which is apparently where stock is kept. One awesome thing about this game is how the larvae interact, indirectly, to guide each other: they mostly wander around randomly, but larvae that find something useful will leave pheromone trails behind that will attract the others. The player can also lay down his own pheromone trails for larvae to go to a specific thing he wants them to.

Other tasks that are left to the player are buying upgrades (with the gathered resources) and building new facilities, such as extra queens and other useful larva stuff. It's a very interesting idle game, and certainly a pretty pleasant time waster.

I like the graphics of the larvae and facilities themselves, with their cartoony style and goofy personality, but the scenery itself looks pretty bland, being basically brown squares of different shades spread around a map. The "soundtrack" of the game consists of the main menu title song, which is okay, a few extra menu music pieces, and the playing field itself, at first, seems to have only a simple ambient sound of drops falling in an underground puddles of water... occasionaly, we hear pleasant acoustic guitar music, but it subsides quickly. The outside world has the guitar sound more constantly, but even then, it feels kinda plain.

The greatest problem I found about the game is that it's waaaaay too slow, much slower than it should be. It is very frustrating to get the larvae to dig where you told them to, and it all gets pretty annoying due to their mindless wandering coupled with their slow speed. Also, the pheromone drawing tool sometimes bugs up by closing before I'm done or not allowing me to draw pheromone lines at all for no good reason. Plus, the game gets extremely laggy if I minimize the window for too long, which kind of defeats the purpose of it being an idle game.

Also, you're*, pretty please. I can't stand grammar mistakes (the description).

plopix responds:

Hi, thank you for your review.
About the speed of the game, most updates are made to make the game go faster (faster movements, faster gathering, etc), make sure to upgrade the special skills too, as some speed up the game.
About minimizing the windows, alas I do not have much control over this, it depends on the engine I use, and your browser settings. Nevertheless, you can keep the game from pausing (or slowing, depending on browsers) without tweaking anything on your browser, by playing the game in a new window rather than a new tab, and by not minimizing it (just switch to another window).
Also, like IRL ants, too, the more workers you have, the more the system is effective.

About english problems, I hate grammar mistakes too (in my native language), so thank you for reporting them.
