I was so happy to hear you were doing a sequel, and you really didn't disappoint :D
Cute graphics, great sense of humor, and I genuinely LOVE the soundtrack. MAJOR props to MDK for doing such a good job. The old heroes making cameos was also really fun, though I was kinda weirded out that Kaeli and Phoebe didn't look any older :/. I mean...not even grey hair?
There were a few elements that I think could have been improved, most of them revolving around the way you changed the item system in this one.
1) The lack of an item drop list in the bestiary is a HUGE flaw, especially since a lot of the better weapons require you to forge them.
2) Having to unlock the party's armor and accessory slots really BAFFLED me. It feels like, if you were going to reward the player at certain story checkpoints, it really should have been something more along the lines of unlocking higher levels for the class skills. NOT suddenly gaining the ability to wear a bracelet T___T.
3) How is it that you can't find higher-level weapons and armor in dungeons anymore? Hunting down stronger weapons was always one of the biggest incentives for exploring the deeper dungeon floors in the original, but now everything you find is level 1. I found that every penny I could scrape together had to go towards buying scrap metal of all things, since there was just no other way to get higher level items.
4) While I love the class system in this, I feel like it would have been nice to be able to see the full skill trees of each party member, like you could in the original. That way, you could plan ahead and decide which classes would be the most effective for each member.
All in all, while this is still a really fun game, I feel like Crystal Story 1 just had stronger presence, humor, and was more solidly constructed. The issues surrounding the item system are what ultimately keeps this from being a truly GREAT game, but with a few improvements, I can see any possible third installment being an instant classic.
