Reviews for "Avant-Garde"

A pretty stylish take on the simulation RPG, although it's a little bit slow. Just a heads-up: It looks like this version's borders are a bit larger than you anticipated, so the guts of the game are visible in the margins. Should be an easy fix.

Found an exploit.

To everyone: Just master doing nude oil on canvas in the realism movement. It never gets old. Anytime you make a masterpiece on those settings you win 1st place. Just keep submitting those to the salon de paris, and hire nude models to get your stats up.

I've sorta figured it out, the title you give the work of art should have something to do with the subject.

Anyway, review. It's entertaining for a time; improving your skills to win in the competition, but after a while, it becomes tedious. Could use some more dialogue with the artists, like the artists talking about their art style and stuff, and also more hints on how to play the game, like how to improve a certain skill (because honestly, I just guessed that part). I think it should also be realistic and historically accurate since years pass by. I mean, I don't think all of these artists (and my character) would still be alive past 1900s. Maybe add historical milestones that pop-up when the player hits a certain month in a year. Just some suggestions to make it more immersive. Decent game for an alpha version though! Keep it up!

good job, but way too easy to get through. I can't get any of MY art forms to be accepted but I can just keep doing all the lowest options and then resell until I get a bit, then I just go to the academy, draw porn for a while (hiring girls privately when available and switch back when needed.) I go back and draw up something new right after the salon happens then spend some time chatting to learn new techniques. I usually keep my best-so-far painting (by price) tucked away so I can submit it and then sell for mint. In about a half hour, I was making "Masterpieces" with my stats maxed out selling realism drawings for thousands after having them place first so many times. I haven't figured out how to unlock the other drawing tools but I really don't need to.

Try to mix in some life stuff as well and some more options (like attending other musical or party events). Allow for walks to locations for ideas and make painting/drawing make expression go down instead to simulate running out of ideas. Allow for more complex relationships with various characters and more chat options. Also, an artist can be many things, perhaps things like making music or inventing could be included somehow.

It's a pretty nice start but only a start.

This is a really interesting game, I liked what's here so far! I agree with Shexlay that there needs to be more of a goal, some story that you're making or some ending you're working towards. More variety in the interactions with other artists would be good, too. I'd love to see more decisions to make and obvious consequences of those decisions in the path you choose. I think this alpha is really strong start, and I can't wait to see how it looks when it's all fleshed out.
