Reviews for "Asaroki 02- Encouter"

Decent

Your style was a little rushed this time. It seemed as though you payed less attention to detail and more to a deadline than in the first one. This is where a lot of really cruddy video games and movies come from. Deadlines over art quality will always kill a series. A proffessional animation studio creates a series of 5 - 6 episodes well before they ever publish it. Maybe try this next time you start a series. It helps to keep you within an acceptable time frame, and gives you good tweaking buffer. I noticed you put lot of work into your "Producer Intro" but way less into the actual episode. It looks like you are a fan of Anime try taking a few queues from that genre. Also try Anime Studio and Manga Studio Pro for the PC/MAC. These 2 programs have a lot of neat tools that will make your flash sparkle like a chrome hood ornament on a brand new $200,000 Bentley, BUT only if employed correctly. Also try picking up a book on How To Draw Manga/Anime and even Caligraphy it will help steady your hand and open a few style ideas you never thought of.

Mixed feelings

The art style is fine (one of the better I've seen on NG), but the animation is weird. There's some animation that I really like (most of the body movements and facial animations), but some just look very unnatural (whenever someone's walking). Some of the voice acting was done pretty well, but most of the unnamed characters (on scene reporter and the male newscaster mostly) had no emotion to their voices and were obviously just reading script. Aside from that, the only problems I had were the phone conversation (there wasn't enough space between lines for the other person on the line to have said much), the cop (I'm hoping he didn't stop at just one car, but if the main character was paying so much attention to her rearview mirror, I doubt "Officer Jeff" would've gone unnoticed), and the car turning to the side in the last scene (I'm sure it was done for dramatic effect, but you'd have to be driving pretty fast to spin the car into a 90° angle). Still, those are all my nitpickings, so 8/10 stars.

Decent

It was alright, the animation was worse than last episode. Plus not much really happened, hope to see better in the next ep

I remember this got blammed...

...the first time you submitted it.

I saw it in the Obituaries.

ArtistGamerGal responds:

actually it wasnt blammed... i deleted it because it didnt work right, unless that counts as a blam? i dont have any blam counts so i dont think it does... but either way...

you should tell me what you think of the movie next time!

Good in context.

I enjoyed this.

There were indeed a few problems - the proprtions and perspective is often wrong - the lead character's legs look inhumanly stumpy at the start and when cars are driving, it looks noticably like a picture zooming in, rather than us being able to 'believe' that it's a car. I think that's because of the perspective being subtly wrong for the way it's meant to be driving.

Her head when she wakes up or paints is far larger than it seems when we see her from nearby, in the head& shoulder shots. However, since you know it's not perfect, I won't bother going on. I look forward to seeing what your more recent animation looks like.

We're obviously still in the early stages of the story, this episode just introducing us to this character, reafirming that the little girl exists and bringing in some agency, in the form of the 'crow' right into the lead character's path.

Not terribly exciting, but after episode 1, I was engaged enough to sit it through. I just hope that the pay-off isn't a disappointment.

The length was near-perfect. Didn't feel like 5 minutes. We got a good amount of plot and it ended on a solid cliffhanger.

But if you're releasing these one a month, it's gonna be an agonising wait for fans.

ArtistGamerGal responds:

Thanks for the informative review. I think you're right, maybe I should try and post the other episodes sooner. Thanks for the advice! Please let me know what you think of future episodes!
