Reviews for "The Rise of a Knight"

wow man

this is like so ultra super crazy awsome

SeethingSwarm responds:

Okay, this is confusing. Thanks for saying that my game is so ultra super crazy awesome, but why did you give me a 4? Are you playing with me? Come on! You can tell me!

The hitbox is too big

It's too easy to just sit there, holding the quick attack button, and letting things run into your sword. The hitbox also extends well past the tip of your sword, allowing me to kill the big fat goblins when the were 2 feet away from the edge of my sword.

Also, I have seen way too many good hack and slashes, such as Staffy the Boy scout slayer, to play this.

Sorry bro.

Nice graphics, though.

SeethingSwarm responds:

I understand. The hit detection is defintely flawed and I know this game needs improvement. I have learned a lot while making this game so that the sequel will not be as flawed as this one. This is just the best I could do at the time. But, really, do you think my efforts were worth only 2? Thanks for the review anyway.

Well I l like it...

For the first part of the game, I just went through like a fucking lawnmower holding A, that worked awesome until the spider cave, then I had to use strategy... Sort of... After that it was pretty easy.

I like the game, but possibilities for improvement are that EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE will absolutely orgasm over a game where you make money, go to a shop, buy better stuff that improves not only the damage and damage mitigation of your character, but also makes him look cooler. Also more engaging enemies, and throw in a few skills, and there you have it.

People like not feeling alone in games, NPCs in towns help to rectify this, and also the ability to hire mercenaries with various skills (Priest, Archer, etc.) makes the game not only more customizable, but much more fun.

Keep it up, I will be on the lookout for your next game should you implement these things. :D

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thanks for a great review!
You have some really good ideas and suggestions which I will keep in consideration for my next game. I am busy making a sequel for this game and will definitely keep your comments in mind. I dunno about mercenaries for hire though. I just dont know if my coding skills are good anough for that. I am still pretty new at making games.

worck harder

u need to make the game longer u didn't give me or anyone a chance to sink in to the game

SeethingSwarm responds:

Maybe you thought that on the second level when the introduction credits came up that it was the end of the game. There are 7 different levels and 3 big bosses. I really hope you didnt thought that it was the end credits coming up when in fact it was just the beginning of the game.

Otherwise, if you did play the game until the end where you become a knight...
There are many things to take into account when making games. When its a flash game, then filesize is one very important thing. As you can see the filesize of this game is almost at the maximum for uploads here on Newgrounds, so I was running out of space. Another thing to take into consideration is time. I did not have forever to make this game. A flash game like this with detailed art and different kinds of music really cranks up the filesize, so sorry if you thought I deserve a 1 for my efforts...

A sequel is under construction at the moment. So maybe then you'll be able to sink into the game.

Meh

The concept and Idea of the game were good, but there was just nothing to do, to much running, a hack and slash im supposed to hack and slash.. not swing on occasion, nice try tho

SeethingSwarm responds:

I think you must be talking about the second level where the introduction credits come up. I agree that its maybe a bit too long, but I was focusing a lot on the atmosphere and journey that the guard had to go through in order to become a knight. Later on in the game you encounter swarms of enemies.

I really wish you could have given the game a chance before quitting so early, but I understand. Its flash. People dont have much patience with flash games. Thanks for the review, it was helpful in a way.
