Infinitely better than the relic of war.

Even with the premium content in the game, it's still very much playable and balanced.
The pixel art style and the audio are both great, the gameplay is enjoyable and the upgrade progression feels satisfying and effective. And the AI isn't horrible. I'm currently replaying the game on new game+.

The only real issue with the game is the lag once there are like 75+ people in a level, but not maximizing the window (I'm playing on newgrounds player) & lowering the settings kinda solves that.

Edit: I just "finished" playing new game+, as I expected, some cities are literally impossible to destroy (Santa level & Secret base 2), I literally have maxed out upgrades and the hazmat/soldier/secret agent spam just makes those levels impossible to beat (without supports, I couldn't even beat the secret base 2 with a bunch of supports), no matter what special squads you bring. Destroying the National Park (Canada) was also basically just RNG because they spawn on completely different sides of the map (3 to be exact, because of the buildings & walls on the left side), and since you can't actually control your zombies you just have to hope they eventually walk into the last remaining 20~ survivors. Gotta deduct a whole star for this.

Yeah, this one was pretty fun when I was kid.
Sadly right now this version has few bugs and when there is more people it really lag the game so it's barely playable, kinda sad if I can be honest.
I think this game deserve big 4,5 rating but because of that bugs I need to give it 3.
Still I think you should try this game and download it on android (or iOS lol) because this version is a lot better.

Awesome as flash game can be. Too bad it will go slow at bigger levels.
