This is my final for my sophomore year of animation at KCAI. The idea for this came about a few years ago. I was doing a flash animation class over the summer with a friend. The teacher Bill wanted us to animate a fable. Instead of use an existing one, I made my own story. After that day I never went back to that class and never did any animation that summer either. The thought was still in my head and since I already had the story board laid out it made things a little easier. All of the animation in hand drawn frame by frame in flash with a wacom tablet. The camera movements and stuff was done using after effects CS3. The music is "To Our Surprise" from the Kingdom Hearts Soundtrack by Yoko Shimimura. All I ask is that you watch the whole thing, its only 1 minute, you can do it. Leave me any reviews you have and enjoy.

[EDIT] Holy Friggin Crap! Wow! The front page, this is so awesome! I hoped to get the front page before I graduate from KCAI but I didn't expect this one to do so well. Thanks everybody who voted and gave me great reviews.

I like this animation style and all.... but, it was so short.....

Too short

Well, it's not really hard sitting through the movie like you ask, because it's seriously short. Your hand drawn animation is very good, but I'm sure you could have done enough for a longer movie (there is only 7 scenes here). And the story is a bit thin. Overall a cute film, but a tad overrated.

Good, but not THAT great.

That isn't Karma, but its a nice enough video. Reminds me of Shoo Fly though and remembering that left me unwilling to give this a higher rating.

Except for pixilation, it was well done. You kind of ruined it though by saying what was going to happen in the comment section.

It was awesome, but are you sure it wasn't stolen? Let me explain:

The movie looked pixely, but flash is not pixel-based. I don't know if that's just a drawback to After Effects, but still.
It looked like you used some kind of video camera/desktop camera to record it...
Anyway, nice job.

mantis0702 responds:

yes Im sure it isnt stolen. True flash works with vectors not pixels. After the animation was done in flash I imported the .swf files to After effects where i put all the different shots together and exported that as a .mov to iMovie HD which I used to add the audio track. After that I exported it yet again as an uncompressed .dv movie. Now newgrounds doesnt allow people to submit work in . dv format so i had to take that file back into flash so it could be compressed as a .swf movie. Its a long process of exporting and importing using several programs. During all that it got a little pixelated. Its not stolen. I do have copies of the film on both deviant art and youtube.
