I'm thinking this one is refering to Armagedon. So maybe we might see Jericho return there.

Also, how lame are the choices for the MVP/Matt match? Does anyone watch a wrestling PPV to see a boxing match between two wrestlers?

It'd be so great to be there live when Jericho returns. Imagine the pop he's going to get that night.

WWE.com has learned that several meetings have taken place between Acting SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero and ECW General Manager Armando Estrada that, if ratified, would allow SmackDown and ECW Superstars to compete on Tuesday and Friday nights.

While nothing is signed as of yet, locker room sources say that this open door agreement between Vickie and Estrada will be discussed tonight, live on ECW on Sci Fi. No further details have been released, and when pressed for more information, Estrada was tight-lipped (a rarity in its own right).

"I have no news for you right now," said Estrada. "But tonight on ECW on Sci Fi (10/9 CT), I will give some insight into these meetings."

In related news... SPOILER WARNING!!! DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED!!!!!

There's rumblings about Kane being CM Punk's partner tonight... Take it for what its worth.

Very big shame about Booker.. He was on such a roll too.

As fro the ECW/SD thing. It's ok if they do this in small doses. If they totally break down the brand barrier, you can say goodbye to a lot of the undercard as the guys higher up will get that air time.

That monkey flip Punk did to Morrison was awesome! Actually that first match was the best of the night. But what I thought would happen did. ECW guys got shoved aside in favor of SD talent.

So what are you guys voting for on those cyber sunday matches? For the HHH/Umaga match I'm picking street fight, which is also on the Finley/Rey match, but called no dq. Miz also gets my vote as does Kennedy.

Source: PWInsider.com

To elaborate on one of Daniel's reports from earlier today, WWE has announced that effective immediately they will begin airing full ECW TV episodes on the official WWE web site. This further raises questions that ECW's television deal with the Sci-Fi Network will not be renewed past the end of 2007.

Shane McMahon, who was very supportive of WWE bringing back ECW, had suggested when the company had first decided to resurrect the brand that the company run ECW TV on the WWE web site to support the brand on smaller scale, much like the original ECW. However, when Vince McMahon got firmly behind the project, he demanded a larger scale and wanted a television clearance for ECW.

With the sinking ratings, lack of talent, and the announcement that SmackDown stars will begin appearing on ECW television, it looks like ECW will slowly evolve into something similar to WWE.com HEAT. From everything that we have heard from WWE's recent overseas tour is that the ECW brand is heading for oblivion.

Well... that's what they get for trying to make it something it wasn't instead of the origional Philly version. I can't say I won't be happy when the incorrect portrayal of ECW is finally put to bed.

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2007-10-17 16:23:39

To be fair, ECW was never anything more than Heat on a larger scale, especially when you consider that ECW replaced Velocity.
The only thing ECW had was ECW originals, which are just veterans used to put new talent over. Hmmm, slightly reminiscent of Heat, perhaps?
It didn't have the same atmosphere as its first incarnation, because it was produced by the WWE. WWE products are done in WWE style, and they have made it clear that they don't shift from that viewpoint. WWE needs to play it safe, to protect their brand, their product and their talent, whereas ECW were edgy, and never on such a high pedestal as WWE are. They could take more risks, where WWE would be stupid to.
So WWECW was only ever Heat with its own title.

And thats why it failed, because they made the First 2 pay per views EXACTLY the way the fans wanted to see ECW, and then they got scared and decided to make it the new WWF "C" show, nothing more than OVW on TV

In hindsight, I think ECW should've just stayed as an annual event. That first One Night Stand was probably one of the best PPVs I've seen, and the second was less so (but ONS2 was the beginning of WWECW, so they were best not to go balls out).
You look at the old ECW stars, and alot of them are past being top stars leading a company into the future, but the first ONS showed us that they can still fuck each other up when they have to.
One event a year would give them a chance to go all out, and show the world what made them so popular. It would bring back fond memories for the old ECW fans, and give younger fans a more realistic portrayal of what ECW was. If I didn't have Avie here to tell us what ECW was all about, then this new incarnation would have been pretty much my only view of ECW, and it would've made me think ECW was just some stale show that got cancelled in the past.
Whatever, that's probably too much said on a subject I know comparatively little about.

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2007-10-17 16:41:32

You nailed it, tho. When they were doing the one a year they were GREAT, and to be honest, I guess it was because they hadnt wrestled each other in so long, but the first One night stand PPV was better than most of the old ECW PPV's. It was when they got the show that it was awful, and it bums me out because people who arent from the east coast think that the ECW on tv now is what ECW was back when it came on tv in Philly.

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2007-10-17 19:03:44

CM Punk, Big Daddy V, Tommy Dreamer, Elijah Burke, Stevie Richards, Marquis Cor Von, those are all great talents. ECW is just a boring show.

Well, well, well. Look who decided to come back!! Actually, a bunch of TNA guys had try-out matches with WWE. I know Low-Ki/Senshi had a match against Christian, Alex Shelley wrestled Simon Dean, Samoa Joe jobbed to Essa Rios, and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a couple of others.

I'd miss ECW on sci-fi. They were making it a decent show to watch, and honestly I thought it was improving. Sure it's not the best show out there, but it's far from the worst.

Agreed with all said above. Even if you look at when WWE talks about ECW going out of business, they term it as "ECW failed" that's what they see it is. They see it as a failed product that for some reason they don't get why it still has a following, but they decided to try and milk that audience and make them get hooked on the "superior" WWE product.

I think that truly it would have been insane for WWE to try and emulate the truly insane ECW product. It would limit careers real quick because it's so physical and WWE runs way more shows in a year then ECW ever did, but there is no reason they couldn't have made the product more wrestling based. There is no reason you do finishes that are completely lame like guys banging their head off a table and getting counted out in ECW when that would NEVER happen on the other shows. You cannot make all those guys look totally less then their counterparts and expect that it will do anything or make people care. WWE completely tanked this brand because they were apathetic and they just looked at it as a place to get the guys THEY like (Lashley, Morrison, BDV) over and the hell with everybody else or pushing guys fans like, or making another roster of talent that could be used.

If it goes off TV and internet exclusive I think it's just putting the show out of it's misery now and maybe giving some of the guys who've actually gotten over or matter there (all 4 or 5 of them) a chance to make their mark on the bigger shows.

If I honestly had the choice ECW wouldve stayed dead back in 2000. Even though the first 2 ressurected ppvs and the first couple weeks of the show were great, it just isnt worth it to see the idea of it get besmirched. Im an old school fan, and I agree with what you say about the guys not being able to go balls out night after night, but the one thing that I saw that really pissed me off was the fact that the old schoolers never got any screen time.

I finally said out loud "ECW is dead" the night I saw John Cena not only squash Sabu but got a submission with that stupid little hold he does. It was right then that I knew they were going to use the old guys (the people who most of the old school fans pay to see) to put over these people that arent good enough at wrestling to make it in WWF, and not crazy enough to have made it in the old ECW.

CM Punk is going to job to Batista in a 5 minutes' boring single match if you ask me. For Vince, the ECW is the C show forever.
