Here's my ideal lightsaber (well, almost ideal-maybe a longer handle for easier double-handed techniques). I wanted a crossbar on my lightsaber that would be able to catch other lightsaber blades, and the only thing that can't be cut by lightsabers (that I know of, anyway) is another lightsaber blade, so this is what I came up with. I have the slanted crossbars that protect the "roots" of the straight ones, and the straight ones protect the "roots" of the slanted ones, so the only way to cut off the crossbars is to slash behind them, and if you've got that opportunity, you might as well go for the hands. As for getting accidentally burnt by your own crossbar, the "roots of the straight crossbars kind of protect your hands from slipping too far up to get burnt. I've actually been thinking about this long before I even discovered this thred. What do u think? :D
I would also like to add that although there are cool pics on this thread, and they're pretty neat to imagine, I myself don't believe in curved lightsaber blades (in the Star Wars sense, anyway), and the source shouldn't be on the side of the blade, it's always at an end of the blade, and I think many die-hard Star Wars fans would agree. I just wanted to point that out 'cause it makes designing lightsabers more challenging, and challenges can be fun sometimes. Also, the other stuff just seems a little un-Star-Wars-ey, you know?

Atcually, there is something that can block a lightsaber. A metal called cortosis.

Oh thanks. Just plain Flash, with lots of gradient retangulars and the scale tool to minimize the undetail parts.
