OK, two on the same day, this is a problem.

How do we classify the two movies that won 1st and 3rd respectively?

1st place is a 10 second loop where the raccoon's boobs are a key focus. Author managed to snag an A-rated Daily the other day.

3rd place is 2 seconds and has a girl from the new Pokemon games roll up her shirt to reveal her boobs (in a bra, no nips). The author posted eight other similar ultra-short movies in just 2 months.

Do they count as "fetish content" (as outlined in the Movie Guidelines), or not? Or are they in some weird and controversial middle ground that somehow allows them to retain T or M ratings?

I think the guidelines needs some improvements specifically to address these kinds of movies.

I also think there should be guidelines directly addressing short content (under 10 seconds, or loop a similar amount of footage multiple times), which are obviously quicker to produce than anything over 1 minute with multiple unique shots.

Gotta be my favorite GIF so far. XD Atlas... he almost seems human sometimes! Charming cautious and energetic walk patterns too...

I'm a bit split on having restrictions in regard to what content users can vote through though, considering users supposedly hold the power to choose which content does get a spot here, and what they appreciate. Adding such limiters would make it seem like they're incompetent in their task, or that their preferences as to what should win and what shouldn't doesn't count, which doesn't really enforce a sense of community...

On the other hand the second submission in this list definitely did deserve the top spot better than the top one.

But who are we to judge, we the minority that have an opinion on justice! IMHO best these selections be as unrestricted as possible. If we have enough good content it should reflect itself in these selections too, and sometimes short loops really are good. In a world where shorter content is becoming a norm it seems odd to go the other way, and potentially keep away a portion of adjoining creators/viewers who aren't familiar or in want of more full-length content.

If there was an easy way to keep short things out of the P-Bot posts in particular... might be good. But I wonder if it'd be good to impose guideline-related restrictions that affect all...

Correction: It's actually 17 minutes, which on its own is rarely heard of on Newgrounds.

As someone who created three seasons of lengthy videos using MS Paint and TTS voices in my first year of content creation, it's very likely it still took way more time and effort than those tiny little boob loops.

For example:

This took me ~1 month to write, draw all the backgrounds, character assets, generate all the audio (and gather a couple of real voicelines), for about 12 minutes of "animation". If I were to animate this the normal way (about 1-2 minutes per month), it would've taken me between 6 and 12 months. I estimate The Last Tussle took roughly the same amount of time.

What a pleasant little surprise. I'm shocked American Beserk didn't got 1st place (gave it five stars two secs after it was posted), but I guess the coomers and furries win once again, as always.

I totally agree that it should be something to adress concerning time, quality, rating and all that jazz, but at the same time... it's such a non-issue, y'know? The rating system is often weird. It's very hard to get a handle of what should or shouldn't be there. The Last Tussle is low-quality work that I made primarily to make people laugh instead of beings stunned by good graphics and enthralling storyline. American Beserk is just a really cool little thing, it doesn't mean nothing or tries anything, it's just cool, and people like it for this reason. I think both are acceptable to be there, it's not like many masterpieces come out every day to deserve deep deliberation of ranking.

And with that said, screw softcore loops. I don't think it's the creator's intention to put it there, and they have no obligation to opt out receiving awards. It's just the coomers see a pair of three frame jiggles and they vote 5/5 faster than light, and they are the majority here, so...

Reminder to artists: If your work isn't rated A but is a short piece that primarily appeals to lust, it would be much appreciated if you voluntarily checked the "Opt out of any awards" box.

I get what you're saying dude. But you gotta admit it's a bit offensive to everyone else including the runner ups that something described by its creator as a low quality just made for laughs project gets included on frontpage, when there are a lot of others who put effort and work into there's. I know from watching it you did put effort into it, but to me and how your describing it just seems like a shitpost, And I agree that all the lewd horny 10 sec gifs should start opting out of rewards, but that should include also shitpost/low effort content as well. I understand if you don't want to hear this, its just how I'm feeling on this and I'm sorry if I'm offending.

P-Bot's Daily Picks used to be a prestigious spot for quality submissions but it seems like it's slowly changing into "P-Bot's Porno Picks" as of late.

I feel like something should be done, but I'm not sure what the best way to approach it would be.

Congrats to the non-horny winners and runners up, though!

😂 I find it hard to believe that in 20 years, I'm the only guy on Newgrounds history that got awarded for doing a shitsoap job. That's kind like the idea behind parodies in general, often we don't make a product as good as what we're parodying, it's more so an excuse to make jokes. If you think I don't deserve not even 4th place fair enough, but I'm not the one who decides that really. Sorry

Could this setting be auto-applied to certain works based on that criteria? I feel like the curation process needs some revision, at least regarding daily picks.

I remember what you said about people who used to misconstrue Newgrounds as a porn site, but it sure would be nice if that didn't actually start becoming true.

I agree with this, but there's no real indicator that enforces or encourages this, nor is there any public indicators that could help us flag this stuff.

And a completely different suggestion: Whenever someone wins a portal award, have P-Bot notify them and redirect them to this post.

That wouldn't remedy the award they've just won though I suppose, but for the future yes...

Maybe even better with some form of notice during the submission stage. An extra 'Are you sure you want to be eligible for awards? Does this deserve it?' type thing. With a link to further info/community sentiments on such things.
