Shitting Blood

Time to get serious.

Yesterday, I had an annual physical. I went to work early in the morning, but left at 12:30.

I've mostly kept this to myself, but I've been shitting blood occasionally for the last few months. I've mainly suspected internal hemorrhoids and it appears to be triggered by red meat, but in case I have any pre-cancerous polyps or colon cancer, I have made an appointment with the ass doctor/proctologist/colorectal surgeon in Brooklyn next week. So looking forward to it. Surprisingly, given my long history with shit, this will be my first time seeing an actual colorectal surgeon.

For what it's worth, my shit is mostly normal, the blood on the toilet paper is bright red, it is not tarry/black, and I'd suspect most of the issues to be in the lower intestine. And I do have two tubes of Preparation H.

Any of you have a history of shitting blood? How have you dealt with it? How should I deal with mine, or am I doing all the right things already? It's worth noting that colon cancer rates in my age group (I'm 30) have spiked in recent years and the guidelines for getting an initial colonoscopy seem outdated. I feel like I need one now, because I can't be sure there will be a later until I see evidence of dramatic symptom improvement.

That has happened on a few occasions, but I was never alarmed by that. Not like this. This is part of a more recent pattern where it mostly seems as though eating red meat triggers this kind of a reaction. The reason why it's mostly smooth though is because of the vegetables I usually eat as well.

Only had a hemorrhoid once. Would not recommend. My butt-hole was super itchy, but never actually any blood in the stool.

Good you're getting it checked out. I've heard of lots of scenarios where minor problems that are easy to fix become major problems that are difficult to fix because of not addressing it right away.

I wrote a whole brochure on hemorrhoids in 7th grade that I got an A- on. Believe it or not, I still go back to it sometimes. My grade should've been higher, but my teacher said she would've liked it if I said "ass" and "shit" less and used the more technical and boring counterparts. None of my hemorrhoids have been external. I do believe internal is worse.

It started at this old job where I had to lift heavy shit a lot. I thought at the time it was a full-blown prolapse because the protrusion was so massive, but I guess it's giant hemorrhoids. And fissures. Anyway that never cleared up even after an exploratory colonoscopy where they found nothing. I wipe blood every day.

If you suspect a prolapse, even your boyfriend or husband or whoever else you're seeing should be able to see something's wrong. I know what to look out for.

I may just have to deal with this. But like I said, as a generation, our colon health is far below generations past and I'd like to know why. It's one of those unsolved medical mysteries.

I shit blood pretty often.

I have whats called Ulcerative Colitis.

Before I knew what it was, it almost killed me... but now that I know how to manage it... its not so bad.

They told me at the dr office to not eat a whole bunch of foods... n i was like yeah ok fuck u.

The only shit that really seems to affect me negatively is whole grain shit... so I avoid that.

Occasionally i can get what I call a "flare up" where I feel like I am going to fucking die... and shit nothing but blood for a few instances. I'll take some pills and it usually resolves itself in a few days. But it can last far longer (weeks-months) without medication.

What always seems to help also is when you are taking your shit... just sit in the proper shitting position (not sitting but more like crouching) and let the shit fall out of your anus instead of pushing (at all)... it makes a huge difference when your turd just slips out instead of scraping your insides with a hard push. And it really helps with avoiding internal hemorrhoids (spelling).

Oh! And invest in some flushable wipes.

Blood in your GI tract makes you want to shit more.... and or loosens your stool... so you can find yourself spending exponentially more time on the toilet if you are wiping a lot... causing inflammation with rough paper.

Wipes also make it much easier to be more sanitary to avoid any infected ass cuts from rough paper.

I shit blood every once in a while. I got checked several years ago and they couldn't figure out what caused it. I've just sort of been ignoring it for the past 6 years - don't know if that's wise.

I never shit out blood before, but I remember happening to my grandma I don’t really remember much cuz I was like 9 or 10 but the hospital put a tube up her ass to help her shit probably and one day she got annoyed of it and pulled the tube out and she was shitting out blood

I've hard dark brown stools from time to time that have made me give serious consideration to running the fuck to a doctor but the last time I got my stools analysed for blood, they came up negative despite being darker than usual.

Especially these days I have lighter yellow stools for which I can't discern the reason as to why, and when I get really bad stomachaches my stool turns darker brown the day after or so. I'm 99.99% sure it's due to an ulcer...unfortunately, I took a H. pylori stool test which turned up negative (and the way they handled it makes me suspect it was rather inaccurate but I'm no analyst...can't they just do those breath tests or something!?)

Hopefully it's not a problem regarding my pancreas, colon or stomach. With COVID and winter under way I'm hesitant to go to the doctors although I suppose I should get to it sooner than later.

I'm not sure if you're at risk, but people at risk are recommended to have a colonscopy every 5 years or so IIRC.

That's because most cancers don't take 6 years to kill you...except for colon cancer which can take 10 years or more to develop to stage III+

Could it be internal bleeding in the stomach?

That can be a usual cause of blood, but by that time it would be a blackish color.

Hope you get that problem taken care of.
