I'm so hyped for my first ever COTM with Jazza! But the thing is how do I know which tag to use? I'm kinda in the middle between legendaryaxe and b-legendaryaxe so is there any criteria for each group? Like how old you should be? (I'm 17 btw) or how long you've been doing art?

If that's your piece, I think that you should enter the open category :D.

Due to your skill level, which I say you're really darn good for your age, I'd suggest the Open category, but at the same time, it's also completely up to you and where you feel more comfortable entering. The Beginner category is (I believe) for those who are not as familiar with drawing techniques and their application skills are not as strong. But it's ALSO for those who are in the younger age range, so you'd fit in either either.

I think this doesn't qualify anymore for the beginner category. For a twelf year old this is impressive, I am curious what you can make in 10 years.

Age doesn't matter in art. Some can be 30 and have the same skill level as a 10 year old. It's all about practice. Some learn quicker then others but we all have to put hours into this skill.

Looks good, I might change the face a little. To me it looks like a cute face. =3. Try use spiky formes to make it more evil. It doesn't seem to be chasing him. Maybe you can make him look at him more?

Im making a story about the children of Aphrodite and Hephaestus, the god of the blacksmiths. Hephaestus was rejected by his mother, Hera, because he was deformed and a sore to the eye. She threw him off of the olympus back to earth. Hera, feeling guilty for the exilation, arranged a wedding for him with Aphrodite. The Prettiest goddess and the ugliest god to have ever existed didn't have a happy marriage, as Aphrodite cheated often on him. The two ended up divorcing, which saddened Hephaestus to his core. In an attempt to soothen his pain of never finding a lover again, he tried to bring her beauty back in his life with his trusted forging skills. He took the finest metals of Greece, and forged them with the golden locks of aphrodite. The children were half weapon, half god. Their father learned them to blacksmith, as they made weapons with their own golden blood. The oldest daughter, prettier then aphrodite, forged a two sided Axe, resembling her two sided connection with earth and the gods. She went to the core of the Olympus, and the weapon broke the realm inbetween gods and humans, making the people of Greece see the truth of their creators and her father to be able to finally return to the mountain. The wall between the two dimensions would continue to be broken up until the Axe was parted in two, distancing the two worlds again.

This is my concept in a nutshell, maybe you'll get some ideas or expand on that:

a Civil War started, but one side had a upper point. So the rivals engaged with the black market. Now they are invincible. [also keep in mind this is in a Steampunk universe]

Wip for beginners category. need to add tons of shading still. Don't know how i feel about it

WOW! This looks amazing.

The only thing that threw me off is the position of the axe, it looks unnatural, like if it was pasted on top of the rest. Try to give it a little of perspective.

in doubt wether to choose one or the other, and I would love some feedack and critique as well

Keep in mind these are 10 min sketches to test out color and composition
