Deadpool. You can't completely say his is a villain though...

Pinhead is awesome.

He is usually portrayed in two ways. Either as an agent of Leviathan/Hell, who's just doing his job, or as a cackling supervillain bent on world domination.

I prefer the former mostly.

Handsome Jack is a great bad guy. He's an enormous asshole, and he actually believes he is the hero of the story.

Gendo Ikari. Probably the only person I know of who would use angsty child soldiers {including his own son} against a horde of ironically named Angels and constantly find ways to backstab an apocalyptic cult of sociopaths to his own ends, with a massive ego to boot, and still get away with everything. Truly, a complete bastard of a villain, but a well thought out one too.

Yuuki Termui, the ultimate villainous troll that would give the Joker a run for his money. He has no qualms about mind raping you {if not killing you first} and manipulate everyone around him to get what he wants, Like Gendo, he has a massive ego that is on par with his nigh immortality, and keeps showing up again and again to troll the world into despair.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Hate to be that nitpicky asshole, but I'm tired of people confusing the term "protagonist" with the idea of heroism. Being a protagonist just means you're the main character of a story, it has nothing to do with you being good or bad, with one example being Macbeth and his antagonist Macduff, who's clearly a hero.

Yeah I guess you're right, but I couldn't find a better word. I didn't want to say "hero" because of the point I was trying to make.

Peter Cushing's Frankenstein from the Hammer movies is totally evil, or at least immoral.

I assumed he was talking about the Victor Frankenstein from the book. But yeah, it's a character that has been portrayed in many different media in many different ways. I just raised the objection because he seems to be more often portrayed as a villainous, mad scientist type while his original character was more complex than that.

You mean the anime series?

If I'm not mistaken, they ran out of budget before the last two episodes and that's where things get a bit weird. They released a film after the series was over which is an alternative take on the ending of the series. It's more comprehensible. So if you ever watch the series, check out The End of Evangelion afterwards.

Luca Blight from Suikoden II.

Here are some facts about Luca Blight;

Was ambushed when travelling with his parents as a child. His father fled in fear and Luca was forced to watch his mother be repeatedly raped. Gains control of an army when he's older and with them massacres the 'youth army' of his own armies country. Then blames it on the opposite alliance because he hates them and because then he can attack them and claim its for revenge. He burnt down an entire village and made one civilian beg for her life by acting like a pig. She eventually did and when she asked if her life would be spared, he laughed and screamed "Die pig!" before gutting her. He didn't sit back when you fight the armies either. He is front line, always in the action and you don't see that too often with big players. Also he is like the hardest boss to kill, not ever but he's still fucking hard. You have to be well levelled up before you can attempt it in the game. You need 3 parties of 6 (!) for the battle, and he was just a man. Wasn't the typical rpg villain who turns out to be half man half mystic beast, he's just this evil strong human, why he's the best villain imo.

I have several favorites myself, but for the record one of my personal favorites would be pinocchimon form digimon season one.

Unlike all the other bosses in this season he wasn't your typical cookie cutter bad guy. Sure he killed his allies. and hurt the chosen children but we also wanted friends and couldn't understand why he couldn't have any.
