I just realized.. if programmers are making software that sounds identical to an actual orchestra... what's going to happen to all these poor orchestra performers who have spent years perfecting their talent?

Seems kinda sucky huh? Ah well, better for us composers :D

Not a lot of software that actually sounds 'exactly like' an orchestral performance.

Besides, live spectacle will ALWAYS exist. There's a reason theater is still around.

Samples can't perfectly replicate an orchestra's sound.

Likewise, a computer can't put human emotion into an orchestra that a good conductor can.

and people want to hear music live, a lot. Does anyone by vocaloid CDs of Beatles songs?

I am more worried about the avant-garde movement ruining music than the technology age, though the two groups are connected, to an extent.

... Not even.

Composers are good at attempting to replicate live orchestration, but it will never be as dynamic. All composers desire access to a real orchestra.

And besides.

Where are those samples going to come from? Someone has to be able to play the instruments.

There will be a day when VI's are exact, but we're talking WAYYYYYY in the future.

Still orchestra's won't die as a result, as movies and albums aren't their only application.
