But on OP, yeah, this is how it seems to work these days. A few years ago was worse, though, when Homer was reduced toa complete Jerkass Idiot. There are more than one episodes where he just starts singing and prancing about for a few minutes while the rest of the family look at him in an odd way. I want to slap whoever came up with those scenes.

Usually stuff like "it used to be better" are just pointless nostalgia, but with Simpsons, it's true. The Movie did save face for them, though.

I always prefered South Park's musical numbers.
