I've been using it as my main OS for coming up on two years and I can't say I've regretted it. You just need to get past the annoyance of being a noob at it at first. There will be little things that seem hard to fix, but once you get over the fear of opening up a terminal to get a few things sorted every now and then, it's fine. Not sure if you'd like the current default desktop environment though, opinions are rather divided on it. Personally, I can work with it fine.
