String of bad luck

My laptop recently decided to give me the pleasure of killing itself. The LCD screen fucks up about two minutes after the initial loading screen. So I can't really produce music until I get it fixed as the laptop is basically inoperable.

So I decided to work on my Flash at the school library in the meantime.

Then my jumpdrive, with all of my Flash work, get's stolen.

FML.

Mental Composing

I was feeling rather musical today and I composed some progressive house, trance, jazz, and classical (each at different times) today. Seriously it just started flowing through my head. Happens sometimes. Wish I could record it, I'd make some $$$ Does anyone else do this?

Well it was probably someone who simply saw a "free" 1-gig flashdrive.

I wouldn't doubt that they simply deleted all of the stuff on there to make room for whatever they plan to use it for.

Believe or not, that same type of thing always happens to me. While I'm sitting in class, bored as hell, I'm usually composing songs in my head. Every once in a while, I end up making an awesome song. Then I realize that I can't record it :(

I forgot to mention, i take it one step further when I get really in the zone, I'll think of something like a sidechained reverb and route signal to aux channels and insert plugins in my head lolol, build synths and shit, try to practice my workflow.... I don't have much time to produce at all these days so it's what I do to compensate.

It's how I improve a lot from song to song (the interval usually spans over a month) even though I get no production done in between... I thought about writing a newspost about mental exercises you can do to strengthen your production, would you guys be interested in that?

It's interesting how i do things. Oddly enough, i click my teeth to get a drum beat, but i kow thats bad for my teeth. I'll either get a piece of paper and right down some notes, or play the melodies over in my head until i do not forget them. Or i whistle it to the best of my ability.

Umm... I deleted the project file lemmie see if i can remember. I'm using Sylenth1 it's a 4 osc synth... I have a square stack here, 1 wave per osc spanning 4 octaves. I have lfo1 routed to pitch and it's following a lorenz wave. Lfo2 is routed to lfo1 rate, with a random wave. Then on top of that I have reverb, a left/right tremolo, and a gate pluging called StormGate1, I glitched up the preset that was loaded in there. So basically all of that is just one long note in MIDI run through all that shit.
