Why is this making me almost cry. I don't know.. It reminds me of Where are you Christmas. My father had passed last Christmas, a few days before Christmas. My mom was sick and couldn't come over this year to spend time with us so although it was a nice, simple get together with my wife and kids in the background it was sad and cold for me because people weren't there. This reminds me of Where are you Christmas blended with memories of the past like my father and my mother. Thank you for reminding me, it was nice to go back and to never forget the good times I had shared with my dad. I love him, I miss him even though I know where he is. Thank you :)

It is this time a year again huh?
Christmas Memories - 2015:
Once again, it is time for a new version of the Christmas track I will be recreating every year. I got the original idea for the track in 2011. I then remembered it sometime in 2013, and uploaded an improvisation of the piece to NG, as my second upload. One year later, in 2014, I uploaded a real composition (based on the improv the previous year). Coincidentally, the 2014 version is featured on the frontpage right now while I'm uploading this!
Unfortunately, I've been very busy lately, so I didn't have time to make anything too grandiose this year. In fact, I almost ripped the 2014 version, hehhe. The performance that year is actually better than I could play the piece now. I decided that since I've been uploading tons of stuff using music boxes this year, I should upload a music box version of this piece to wrap it up.
Even though this is the same performance, editing the piece took 3 hours, if not more. I had to change a lot of things, to get everything to fit within the limited range. I wanted to get a generally good sound too. How did I do?
Since this year is a bit of a cop out on my part, I'd like to create an orchestrated version next year! I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens :)

It's a shame to hear about your father, truly. Christmas is a time when we remember those who are no longer here. And the older you get, the more people that used to be around for Christmas, aren't there anymore, which is very sad. On the other hand, you might find some new people around the Christmas tree now and then.
I can see the resemblance to "Where are you Christmas?" for sure. Many Christmas track bear similar elements to them, of course. This piece, is indeed supposed to get you to remember the Christmasses that have been. That can be for good or for bad, of course. The other Christmas piece I made this year, is perhaps an even sadder version.

Ah, this is another very pretty reimagining, Lucid! You outdid yourself with the 2014 version, and this is a very light and airy successor. The overall pacing and a bit of the note progression bring to mind Epilogue to Good Friends from Chrono Trigger, which I'm sure you're familiar with. :D

I'm afraid I'll have a tough time with surmounting the 2014 version, pianowise. I'm planning on remaking this piece in several different genres, in the coming years. I really love the sound of music boxes, so I thought it both pracical (I'm so busy, aagh!), and pretty to use it as a solo intrument for the entire piece :)
I can definitely hear the resemblance to "Epilogue to Good Friends"! Such a good piece (Actually reminds me a bit of Final Fantasy's "Final Fantasy"). I'll let you in on a secret. While you might not think it, "Christmas Memories" actually took huge inspiration from "Terra's Theme" from FF6 :)
You can hear it in the rhythm, and some of the chord progressions.
Ooh, "Maljanne" is a pretty cool song. I actually hadn't hear it before. I've been enjoying my Christmas, even if there's a lot to do. I hope you've enjoyed yours as well!
