A Familiar Encounter

Another sleepless night so soon? Working late-night hours on music is a real pain when that's your only creative time period.

Went for an JRPG-esque style with this one, hopefully it shows. Usually I hate having to work with mediocre vsti in genres that I am not familiar with, but I think they turned out okay here. It's a kinda-sorta retro flair, I guess?

I only used 8 tracks in the whole thing, which is extremely low from what I usually do. The need for a bunch of extra stuff to cover everything is quite indicative of my shortcomings as a writer, so I'm glad I could make something out of this. Hopefully you'll enjoy it!

The song loop point begins @0:23 and ends @2:04. I did consider uploading it as a loop, but ultimately decided against it. (If someone wants a working loop, just PM me)

Legendary Pokemon??? This sounds, and feels, amazing. This gives me nostalgic feelings when Gen 4 of Pokemon just came out & I listened to the amazing soundtrack as a kid...I love this so much :3 ~S~

This is awesome! Sounds like something pokemon-ish with mostly a paper mario bosslike main part to it! I would definitely use this in a Mario game!

Good day!~ I'd love to use this in a game of mine - if it looped, haha.

Great composition. The instruments sound okay. You could've made it punchier when you mixed it differently, but like this it sounds quite relaxed and pleasing to the ears. It reminds me more of an old video game song like this, and also it would be less annoying to hear very often, as happens with a standard battle theme in an rpg. Apart from the mixing, the composition is quite action driven and bombastic. Also a reason why I wouldn't mind hearing this song more often. The melodie sticks very easily, but not in an irritating way.

I'll be honest, anything mixing-related is still a big question mark with me. I have yet to make any considerable progress on mixing, though I like to think I'm taking baby steps in the right direction. I'll try my best to discover how to get that proper "punchy" quality out of my mixes in the future! :3

Actually, as a side note, when I think about it, I feel like a lot of the pseudo-orchestral re-imaginings of themes from popular game series (like what they did with the newer Phoenix Wright games on 3DS) tend to smooth out all of the "punchiness" from their old counterparts. I wonder if that's just the byproduct of removing those old, chipper (heh) synths.

'Bombastic' is definitely a good word for the style of music I was trying to emulate. Never a dull moment with those, I tell ya. I'm glad the composition on my end is suitable!

Thank you ever so much for the insightful review, Sir Jovis! :)

Very good ^^ I love it !

Deemo-R responds:

Thanks! :D
