Midnight Breeze (KuroMisuki Remix)

...not exactly what you'd expect from rtnario, eh? XD

This is my first classical submission to NG Audio (not my first classical piece ever, I mean ^^;). It's an orchestrated version of KuroMisuki's "Midnight Wind". Should you wonder about the disc logo, it's KuroMisuki's avatar. You can find the original song over at:

rtnario responds:

Unexpected since once upon a time, I thought I could only do video game metal remixes. As it turns out, I delved into a lot more over the years XDD

Glad you liked it bro!

Ah-hahahaha

I saw that ending from a mile (2 minutes 24 seconds) away.

Anyways, the piano seems pretty clear, and the background (cello or viola?) is a good accompaniment. The violin is nice, although it definitely has room for improvement in fitting in with the rest of the instruments for a more blended sound. The flute sounds ok, although it feels like it could be slightly more balanced. You do transition in and out of the flute with good dynamics. This must be very hard for you and your non-metal anxiety. I'm not sure about much advice to give because I'm no pro as we all know, but it sounds like the song all in all could use a bit more balancing of the instruments. Sometimes it feels like certain instruments are sticking out more than others where they shouldn't. The crescendos and decrescendos are good though. It seems that if you try just a bit harder, your classical songs will sound great.

rtnario responds:

Of course you did! XD

Yeah, I think I made it pretty simple. The mix of instruments isn't exactly so polished, but yep, definitely more attempts into a non-metal genre. Again, may I remind you I have more classical outbursts that aren't on Newgrounds, but all the same each one is a learning experience made even better with people who give critique :) Thanks for the review!

hoho

im liking this version better than the original, the softness of the orchestra fits perfectly with the melody of the piano, nc touch ther
and 5 it i shall!

rtnario responds:

And thanks I shall give to you for the vote and the review! :D

Quite good. :D

The piano is simply clear and lucid, and the melody flows quite smoothly throughout the song too. :D Violin works well in emphasizing the melodies. Keep it up. I think this would work very well for games/films.

What soundfont do you use for the piano? It sounds really appealing.

rtnario responds:

Thanks for the *return* review =)

To be honest, I think I could've made the violin sound better, but then again this was back then when I was trying my hand at the classical genre. I say that referring to the past, yet I'm still trying as of now. XD

And I thought the piano would be all too familiar for you...it's Edirol's ^^ In fact, I used Edirol alone for instruments with some tweaked EQ and stereo enhancements here and there.

Thanks again for reviewing; I'm still testing out what you told me in your reply to my review. I can't wait to make a song out of everything I've learned ;)

ok that WAS unexepted o.O

Nice melody, but a bit repetive.
You didnt use drums like the original, wich is a huge plus.
Some more Instruments and some variation would've been nice.
Overall a nice song, but mainly a fixed version of the original.

rtnario responds:

Heh, thanks for being honest there Syron ^_^

And yeah, it is more of a fixed version of the original, but that IS exactly what I was going for, so I guess I achieved my goal! \o/

And sorry if it was unexpected XD I'm taking a lil' break from songs of my style (you know exactly what I mean), but who knows how long that'll last. =)
