Edit: it won... runner-up... 🥲

I'm just gonna be real with you here, I have never had to lock in this hard before.
Why?
Well y'know how usually I post a track every few months?
This was made in 9 days
It basically consumed my every waking moment, but it's done! 😅
I picked this track because I expected it wouldn't have many remixes, and because I felt like it would be the easiest to build off of. I've never done a remix without access to the original midi before, so working with nothing more than an mp3 to go off of is new territory for me - as is using my voice for once.
Was too nervous to sing, but thankfully spectral compressor can effectively autotune anything I say to the chord progression, so that wasn't an issue - besides the FX chain on my voice would be quite intense.

Here's the lyrics I guess? Italics is me, non-italics is from the original
Opening:
I relinquish control...
Let go of my grip...
I feel my body pull...
Take me where I'm afraid to go.
Buildup:
Awake...
Awake...
Awake...
Awake...
Awake...
Awake... in a Dream...
Bridge:
My soul whisked away by the reverie of night,
Conscience and thought lost to the sky's dancing lights.
My breath no longer pressed down heavy on my chest,
And as old pains left me, I had thought it for the best -
But though for a time, I knew ignorance as bliss -
Observing others' pains was no way to exist.
To dissociate from life was my fatal mistake.
That is the reason in our dreams, we can never wake.

I realise some might consider writing all that more embarrassing, but I just found treating it more like a spoken word poem than a song, and then fixing the pitching of it in post was the easiest way to go about it. 😅
