Thieves Guild Theme

Hey guys. This is a refreshed version of a track I composed last year. I redid the mix from scratch and also decided to remove the vocals from Era II Vocal Codex because they sounded too fake.

The track is heavily inspired by the "Thieves Guild" theme from the video game Trine 2.

Instruments:

  • Bass (Cinematic Studio Strings)
  • Cellos (Cinematic Studio Strings)
  • Violas (Cinematic Studio Strings)
  • Violins I (Cinematic Studio Strings)
  • Violins II (Cinematic Studio Strings)
  • Flute (Cinematic Studio Woodwinds)
  • Alto Flute (Cinematic Studio Woodwinds)
  • Bass Clarinet (Cinematic Studio Woodwinds)
  • Bassoon (Cinematic Studio Woodwinds)
  • Chitarrino (Rinascimento)
  • Plectrum Lute (Rinascimento)
  • Cymbal (Spitfire Percussion)
  • Snare (Spitfire Percussion)
  • Triangle (Spitfire Percussion)
  • Celeste (Spitfire Percussion)
  • Children Choir (Liberis)

Thank you!

I love how deep the bass is. This is well-constructed—it feels like the instruments are having a conversation, asking questions and giving answers. Honestly, one of the most powerful techniques for creating interest in music is viewing it as a conversation, and the flow you’ve created here is great.

@Everratic, which compositional techniques do you use the most, and why do you choose to use them?

Thank you, @Everratic. I appreciate you listing the instruments you used in your orchestral theme. It’s a wise decision to subtract elements from your composition; subtraction is just as important, if not more so, than addition. It’s very easy to add too many elements, which can ruin the listening experience.

For a second I thought this was the transcription you did, haha. I can definitely hear the inspiration. Though, I think you surpassed your inspiration and made something better. Not just saying that as a friend.

Also, 00:33 is just too good. I'm always a sucker for moments like that xd. 10/10 woodwinds, I still gotta figure out how to properly use em xd

Everratic responds:

It means a lot to me that you think I surpassed the inspiration! I personally prefer Ari's version.

Thanks for the review!

just listened to the whole thing, sounds really neat :D

Everratic responds:

Thank you!
