Micah Jayne:
This song was a lot of fun to work on! I could definitely see myself playing this on DDR. This is a style of music I've never played guitar to before. I also feel like it's one where "real" guitar isn't featured often, and I think it sounds cool to blend the guitar with all the electronic elements.
THE BEAT WIZARD:
Out of all the tracks in the album, this was the one I worked on for the longest time.
I started this track right around late 2021, at the same time I made my single, Wonder Wander. I got stuck on the track since I couldn’t think of how to get this track past the first drop, I had the rest of the track’s arrangement figured out but I couldn’t think of a good idea for a 2nd drop, so for the first half of 2022 this track was just a short 2 minute arrangement in my computer’s hard drive.
When I was working on the album I had already planned to finish this track since I know that this has the potential to become a special track, and so I tried to work on it once more, and I still couldn’t think of a good 2nd drop for the track, until I thought of this Future Bass/Breakcore-esque 2nd drop that fit in really well.
Initially I didn’t plan on having live instruments for this track, but when I was working on a different project, I met Micah Jayne.
I thought that it would make the track a lot more special if this became the first track in my entire discography to feature live instruments, so I reached out to him and he agreed.
I had the track arranged in a way where Micah’s guitar parts get a bigger role as the track progresses, going from a simple countermelody in the 2nd drop to an amazing guitar solo in the track’s climax.
This is a very personal and important track to me, this is me reflecting on my time as composer, from everything I learned, to the challenges I overcame and to the uncertain but hopeful future that I think about everyday.
I still have a long way ahead but I am proud of how far I came from where I once began.
I hope you enjoy this track, as this is the fourth of the four “special tracks” featured in this album.
