Nice vibrato on the chips. Something I'd like to learn someday. Reminds me of Castlevania. Nice tune! I'd love to hear the orchestral version.
Troisnyx writing.
This was an extension of an old Project C / Tales from the Realm at the Other Side idea that I had some nine, ten years ago. I'd never previously completed the loop, until I first did a full structure of it on 19 July. Mackie offered to fatten up the bass and lay down percussion on this, which I was happy to let. We were both on the same game jam team for the Bored Pixel Jam -- a second collaboration after Variations was welcome, and put a massive smile on my face!
On my end, I used TX16Wx and the NES Mario Paint soundfont on FL 20. Mackie used magical8bitplug2 to convert! Fakebit is a lot more lightweight for me to do most of the time, and the jam asked for pixel graphics and chip music so that we could stay true to the aesthetic.
This is, chronologically speaking, the second of any of my tunes to have overt references to the Dies Irae plainchant, and this one has it in spades -- hence the title.
One day, I promise -- I will do a fully orchestrated version of this.
