This was commissioned by @RobC3 for a character he created named Frederick the Fennec. It went through several self-imposed rewrites before finally landing on the current version.

In general I feel it's best practice to work things out on paper before starting production, though due to typical production schedules I've gotten in the nasty habit of either just sketching out basic melodies or skipping this step altogether and beginning the project directly in the DAW. As it turns out with this large ensemble jazz stuff, a bit more time spent working out detailed sketches in pre-production will pay dividends. I used to think the jazz production process was extremely work intensive when it turns out it's just very work intensive as long as you're not trying to orchestrate all those horns on the fly.
