Mother Machine 9 : The Transcendent
Track 1
2021
-
(Previously) Mother Machine had tried to step out of The Deep. She had tried to be amongst the people, not as the destroyer but as someone who could peacefully co-exist. She wanted to bring more followers back with Her and live in the tranquil stability of The Deep (MM6-7). Her plans did not work well, and whether it was Her past or Her differences, the sabotage of Her plans sent Mother Machine spiraling to a place no one wanted her to be again (MM8). She struggled to grasp there are ups and downs in life but understood there is much to learn. (MM8)
Mother Machine has been meditating, reflecting upon peering into the abyss of The Destroyer mantle once more. She feels like deep down, She knows the answer is to let go, but She just can't let Herself do it. She contemplates leaving the Deep, but what would Her followers, The Embraced, do without Her? The Embraced light some fires, especially one central blaze, in the main audience chamber of The Deep and begin to sing and dance. Mother Machine's eyes fixate on the flame and something stirs within Her. By Club and Fire Light the answer is coming to the surface.

Author's Note: Happy Mother Machine's Day! This journey has been fascinating. I understood several years ago (MM5 or so) that Mother Machine was just a story and a project about PTSD. When it dawned on me, I told a story about myself - I leaned into it in many ways and have been navigating with that knowledge since. I think MM9 may essentially wrap it up, although I'm not saying me making music is over. I wanted to put more planning into this, and I'm happy with the results. Track #1 "By Club and Fire Light" was one of the first things that entered my mind when I thought of the word 'Transcendence' - just the kind of sound and the overall feel.
