The Papápo of Thobo live in a barren, winter waste named Papnáru. Because the planet's axial tilt is almost a whopping 90 degrees, the equator, where Papnáru sits, is actually the arctic, while the poles are tropical. Combined with Thobo's distance from the sun, the equator is nearly uninhabitable. But some creatures have conquered the cold deserts of Papnáru. Among them stand the resilient Papápo, an ethnicity of Nuna native to the harsh lands. They live off the scarce wildlife and adorn themselves with the thick pelts of their game, as their fur and meat alone are not enough to bear the cold. During winter, not only is the planet at its furthest from the sun but the equator is also oriented away from the sun for the rest of the season. For this reason, the natives of Papnáru consider the winter solstice a time of great suffering, darkness, and weariness.

Merry Christmas! I enjoyed the holidays this time of year and I hope you all did too! This was a VERY late drawing (or painting or whatever you call it) but I had free time and nothing else to do. I decided to set this drawing during the winter. Halfway I realized that it would be dark because of that, so I blended everything blue and added stars.
