So.. I really want to love this game.. the play style is good, the crafting and storage systems both work well, I personally find the graphics quite fitting to it, and for the greater part it seems very well thought out...
However, the game has horrible balance. The initial weapon is too weak and inaccurate, and you neither receive enough nor the right kinds of resources to properly upgrade or even repair after the first few days. By day 8 I was spending every iron ingot I got to try and build repair kits from the journey. I didn't have the ability to purchase anything of any value from the trader (who kept popping up even though I didn't have sufficient resources). Then on top of that the trader wanted insane costs for some things, like 5 workbench tools for a motor, and there were even more insane costs. The trader, the crafting, and the upgrade bench made look like you should be getting lots of resources. I get that there is a certain amount of randomness to it all, but there should be enough resources to survive and grow. Trading should also be either a choice between visiting a trader, or a random encounter that doesn't prevent the next resource gathering rather than a random encounter that replaces resource gathering. I get that there should be a certain amount of randomness to the cost and availability of items at the trader, but essential items that you can't craft should always be available at the trader and should have a predictable cost/value.
Presumably because of the lack of resources the enemy strength increase feels unbalanced, maybe it is, but I was never able to upgrade anything after I was finally able to build an upgrade bench. I wasn't ever able to afford any of the other bench types. The last battle I was in I lost 500HP because my gun was far too weak and inaccurate. I did get a second turret so I didn't have to set idle (although that had happened to me previously, which is why I built a second turret).
In summary, beautiful game, great gameplay, horrible ballance when it comes to items, traders, and possibly enemy strength. This thing needs rebalancing badly because it could be a great game.
