Reviews for "Rail or Die"

Fun.

Basically an alternate version of "The Last Station". The stations are very small and repetitive, but "Rail or Die" makes up for it with a lot of action during the rides (whereas in TLS there was basically just a rush to fix the locomotive parts and feed the passengers. Much stress, little fun...)

Shooting poor birds with anti-aircraft guns is, honestly, the cruellest and funniest thing I've ever done. The fun-madness combo is a great mechanic to work on. There are those who complain that three types of enemies are few, but I believe that they are sufficiently varied as basic enemies. Maybe you could add some kind of boss, but other than that I have nothing to add.

Now, the real problems: Once you've built and upgraded everything the game has to offer, you can only continue to accumulate materials. I'm sure you are already working on it, but I would recommend, if allowed, to add some new dynamics that require the use of the other materials. Also, a sore point, the medals are buggy and he only gave me the 10 day one, when I actually got to the 50th day and bought everything. Also the ranking gives me a score of 12...based on what? I arrived at day 50...

Beside those things, the game has the potential to be pure gold! Keep up the good work! ;)

reminds me of that movie unstoppable

An okay start, but needs a lot more work.
Amount of variety is sub-par, only three enemy types and two types of stations means I saw everything the game has to offer rather quickly and got too bored to continue on Day 35.

There's no story or context, why are birds attacking me, no scratch that, why are birds attacking a moving train?
If they only attack things that are moving, what's the character's motivation to head out in the train in the first place, if they attack everything, why am I safe at stations?

The guns, or rather, why would I ever build anything but MGs?
Without their specific damage upgrades, both the HE and AP cannons are crap, which means you need three Explosives/AP tips to make one worthwhile gun and these things are expensive to trade for.
Even with their upgrades, the HE is only good against the small swarms, maybe ok against the exploding birds, the AP is great against the bigger birds, but crap against everything else.
So you can either have two specialized guns, aka 6 expensive trade items, forcing you to switch depending on the enemies, or you could just skip them, get a Mk3 MG and never use anything else because MORE DAKKA IS BEST DAKKA.

My "Pro" guide:
Get the Weapon Table, disassemble your starting MG to make the Mk2 MG (be sure to check you'll have everything you need before disassembling).
Get the upgrade table, get either Accuracy, which allows you to fire shorter bursts to kill things, meaning heat won't be an issue for a long while, or get Cooling, if you just want to spray things down. NOT BOTH!
Save up materials, buy a motor ASAP.
Build a Mill with the first motor, if you have enough base materials at this point, immediately craft what you need for a second motor, the next merchant might not sell them.
Get the advanced table as soon as you can afford to.
Disassemble your Mk2 MG to make a Mk3 (again, be sure to have everything before disassembling).
Get Accuracy/Cooling upgrade, whichever you didn't get before.
Purchase one AP tip when you can, get the bullet damage upgrade.
Congrats, you've won, you can just skip all stations now and just BRRT down those birds.

This game is really interesting ,The pixel style and background looks extraordinary, hope to see this game on steam or other stations like epic or ubi......etc
(by the way it looks like"last station"
