Reviews for "Cathode Raybits 2"

I love 8 bit gaming, and your sendups are always on point. take heart Sinclair, you're getting a lot of complaints about difficulty and this is definitely not harder than Mega Man 1. Practice, people! Viva la NES!

SinclairStrange responds:

I'm so used to complaints about difficulty now I'm just numb to it! Peeps now a days just want a button to push where then it tells you, you've won!

Aye it's around Mega Man 4-6 difficulty I'd say. Nothing as hard as Mega Man 1 or the Wily Stages in Mega Man 9. (Those were brutal!)

Nicely made, but funky button mapping made it more difficult than it should have been.

Game is hard. Not impossible, but hard... probably harder than it should be.

Pros:

- Weapon charges on its own instead of having to hold it down. Nice.
- Looks and feels kind of like Megaman, of course. That's the point, right?
- Dem nostalgic graphics and music.
- Punishing "oops you died" difficulty.

Cons:

- Controls on a keyboard using left hand makes it feel backwards because NES controller buttons are used with the right hand, but they can be changed.
- Jumping from an edge is far more frustrating than it should be.
- Dash-jumping doesn't exist, and I haven't been able to find out where dash is even useful yet.
- Got pretty far in the Leaf stage but still restarts to the very beginning when I die (I read the update note but I don't think it's working).
- Health and/or damage tolerance is seemingly quite low.
- Play screen is smaller than what I'm used to in side-scrollers, especially when the guy has to be in the middle to move forward.
- I have yet to die battling something (except a boss), but instead it's the unforgiving and sometimes unpredictable OHKO environment with too few checkpoints that keep me from getting through the game. I mean, it sucks spending 30 minutes slogging my way through a stage to get to the boss, only to beat it in one try.
- Accidentally dashing into shit when I didn't want to. I kind of wish there was a way to disable it.

That's all I can think of for now. Made it halfway through, and some levels require several "Game Over" screens to get through, simply because it's just too unforgiving. I suggest people pick the Leaf stage first to get a feel for how the game works.

My cat likes the music. Definitely not a game I could beat in one sitting and requires at least two beers.

Old school fun. Hard as hell though.

@PlatinumAcer
you can still play the game using the ng flash player.

You may have to uninstall an old version, if you have it though.
Tested the game and it runs fine.
