Reviews for "Kill the Rabbit"

Oh, crap.

Both endings are tragic.

Not a bad little game. I agree that the "dash" controls is a little too sensitive, but if what you say below is true, you intended for people to take their time on this, and stopping to make sure the right keys are hit at the right time seems to solve to problem of dashing over the edge.

Music is very good.

I notice a weird glitch. Really tough to explain, but I'll try. On the level that says "Imagine what could have been" (level 7, I think) the opposite control problem happens. Every time I played, I went all the way over to the right side of the screen, and when I made my big jump over to the middle platform (it has a few rabbits and thorns), I was unable to perform a dash unless I took my finger OFF the arrow key. At the one spot, the Space Bar won't work with the arrow keys... only if I'm going left. In short, it made the level impossible to beat unless you realize that you have to move your hand off the left arrow before you make the mid-jump dash. I'm not sure if it has happened to anyone else.

Interesting little game. It's actually pretty easy except to the glitch. I think people are just approaching it wrong. I like it.

Thanks for the review! I think I'm gonna make a patch so the dash-attack is less out of control. As for the glitch, I'm still trying to replicate it and see what it might be causing it. I want the game to be hard but not hard without being fair about it, lol. And yeah, I the end is where a tried to tie in the theme of deception. Deceive the player with the non-existence of a good end and deceive them about what they were truly doing throughout the entire game. Hopefully things get ironed out. Thanks, for the solid points. :D

i think i got stuck on level 3 lol

trixelbit responds:

Was it a kinda of glitch? Or was it just difficulty? There was people who had problems with that so I just want to make sure. ( btw, something I forgot to say in the game was that there is a double jump ). Thanks for letting me know either way!

Well, this was pretty good! Basic and simple, but good.

In this game, you are a fox being told by some anonymous text to kill white rabbits but spare black rabbits. The texts that tell you to kill the white rabbits continuously claim that the rabbits are the spawn of evil incarnate and all that, all while you hack and slash on the rabbits fur with your fox powers, making you wonder if it's really speaking the truth. There are two endings to the game, but I don't wanna spoil them.

The gameplay is basic and simple, but fun. You can walk, double jump, use a regular stand-still attack and a dash attack that also serves the purpose of reaching greater heights sometimes. Everytime you attack, you lose a bit of energy, so you must attack sparingly. The objective of each stage is simply to kill all white rabbits, and killing black rabbits takes away some health, so you must avoid that. The simplicity of this concept made for an enjoyable and no-stress playthrough, but it did feel like it could contain at least a little more variation to give it flavor.

Also, the graphics look nice, retro with a slightly cartoonish feel, and I like the music a lot too, a sweet 8-bit tune that really goes well with the theme.

My complaints are that, first of all, the game is too short (a given, since this is a jam entry) and that sometimes it's hard to control whether you do a dash attack or a stand-still attack (it seems to me like any horizontal momentum you have is sufficient to send the fox flying in the direction you're facing when you hit space) which frustrated me a bit sometimes, until I got the hang of it. Also, maybe a few more features would make this more satisfying?

It's cute. I can't finish your work because the controls act up. I can dash to the right after double jumping but I can't dash left after double jumping, making one part of a stage inaccessible. Please fix this.

trixelbit responds:

Sorry that you had problem with the controls. It seems like the game can be inconstant with that, with instances of players who have trouble with that and other players who breeze through it. Hopefully I can fix the issue. Thank you for playing, hopefully you'll get to experience the rest of this.

VERY HARD game its impossible >:<
