Come in man or demon! Dammit. Good demon dog says good game man!:D

Nice game, a quite enchanting experience, I love games like this.

When art games go the opposite way of most of them, and decide to be more psychological and dark such as this one, they are truly amazing. I love how the graphics and music are minimalistic, yet just detailed enough to be atmospheric, because that makes for a kickass of a presentation, that manages to grab one's attention without being overwhelming.

Gameplay is also minimalistic, and not incredibly innovative, but it does its job well, and it's entertaining. There are a few parts that were rather frustrating (like the lightning bolts room right in the beginning), but overall the game's fun. I like how the stage is used to complement the telling of the story itself, with certain demons showing up in unexpected moments, and other features that help carry on the story. Of course, the game is rather linear, with nearly no alternative paths to take, but that's not a problem in this particular game style.

I found a bug: when you get to 7th avenue, if you walk left from the upper ledge (the one that's outside the subway) you get teleported back to the train, and that doesn't look right, and I don't see how that would be a design choice, so I'm assuming this is a bug.

The point of the game is the story and the message it conveys. I'm assuming the number of demons per place represents the amount of remorse the main character holds for actions done in each place, and I'm assuming he feels very guilty for things he did on the subway, but not so guilty for things that happened right in his backyard, making the entire thing a mistery, and open to interpretation.

Overall, pretty good, I like games like this.

This game has a lot of potential, but it has some significant flaws. With a little improvement, it could be exceptional.

Pros:
-The atmosphere of this game suits the content well. Its eerie and subtle, unlike many games that have repetitive, jarring music that detracts from gameplay.
-The opening sequence offers some fun philosophical prodding without getting too preachy. Its very show-don't-tell which makes for a good attention catcher.
-There is no in-game text (at least so far, I didn't finish it.) to distract the player.
-While the graphics are nothing to brag about, they suit the environment well and they are easy to understand.

Cons:
-The programming needs improvement. Backtracking from some of the frames brings the character backwards to the wrong frame. Hit detection can be shaky.
-The game is hard and repetitive, which makes it boring and difficult to finish. I found it tricky to motivate myself to go to each successive frame when I saw that the game was getting harder too quickly. Even creeping forward in order to battle one enemy at a time didn't help much.
-The game offers very little reward. Getting the gun helps. If there are better weapons later in the game (again, I didn't get that far) that may help more. If the scenery becomes more morbid and interesting, and if the enemies become more varied, that may also help.

Note that my review is very limited as I did not progress very far before giving up. The game was just too difficult.

rottenmage responds:

Thanks. It was our first attempt making a minimalistic "story" game but we feared that it might get boring so we tried to "pump" up the action. We hope to make a longer version with progressive difficulty.
