Reviews for "Beat Chaser 2"

Why do bullet hell games always feature little anime girls as the characters? No, seriously, I've always been curious.

Anyway, not bad. The hitbox for my character wasn't immediately obvious so that kind of bothered me. Unless I overlooked it, maybe it would be helpful to include a little visual on the character (that stood out) to better represent the hitbox.

The uploading music thing is way cool and I've never seen that done before in a flash game. Nice innovation.

Nonako responds:

They don't always like that, there are ton of bullet hell games only have cool mecha and soulless machines. xD But seems these games are not popular as those "shooting game with moe characters" so maybe you didn't know about them. Beside that, Touhou is just a part of bullet hell genre not a genre itself, Touhou features little moe girls but not every bullet hell games. The ultimate truth is that I fucking love little anime girls so at anytime I have chance, I will put them into my games and other projects, not because they are bullet hell games. XD XD XD XD

Thank you so much for the advice/ I'm feeling so badly to make the hitbox be large and has more obvious present but... Arh damn, I don't know... T_T

// I updated the new version with bigger display hitbox.

Great concept. I love the fact that your uploaded music will be more than just background music. I really hope to see an updated version of this as soon as possible. The gameplay seems somewhat confusing. I'm not sure how far I am from dying, or how many times I must beat down the enemy to win.

Nonako responds:

Hey sir, the first thing I want to say that thank you so much! Then...

"I'm not sure how far I am from dying, or how many times I must beat down the enemy to win."
- 12 times (or 15 because the 12th spell has 3 phases), I guess. XD

"I really hope to see an updated version of this as soon as possible."
- To hear that from you, I really want to work more on it and improve the game but... I think I can't. T_T The game was released for a time and go viral, it didn't have much value (of $$$) to work on anymore. I'm so poor that I have no choice but will have to spamming / cloning small / annoying games on my another accounts to get some cash. :( I don't know why but I'm being honest now, maybe because I get enough of commercial sh!ttttt.

Anyway, I'm still planing for Beat Chaser 3 or at least Beat Chaser 2.5, if you don't mind you can follow me so you will be noticed when I release these games.

Please forgive for my words and Thank you again. xD

cool

Nonako responds:

Waa... It is a bit off but why you guys only follow daikazoku63 but not me. T_T

Maybe in sequels of this game I won't work with him so if you want to keep your eyes on the game, you should follow me too. I was the original author of this game, I was working hard on most of it, ideas, gameplay, bullet patterns, effects, interface, character design, etc, even I myself had to work and edit some of the art stuffs, only hire him to draw 3 images. Why didn't you guys follow both of us. I'm really jealousy now. T_T

Huhuhuhuhu

Anyway, thank you for playing and cool comment. xD

An extra touhou extra stage?
you should be able to change how the music affect the bullets' speed according to the music's high notes.I can't play with some of my favorite bgms because I'd need superhuman senses because of that.

Nonako responds:

Yes sirrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sequel of this game will have a difficult bar in settings menu, you can scale the difficulty from 1 to 100. I also will make sure that the game will save setting for each song. xD If you like the game and want to support me for the sequel, please do me a favor, please share this game with your friends, that's all. xD

Thank you for playing and feedback!

//There is still a way for you to play your favorite songs without superhuman ability, but it is a secret. xD

This is a really awesome concept, and being able to use your own music is definitely a welcomed feature. Some songs can be a bit overkill even on normal difficulty.

Feedback:
I can't tell what exactly is the hit area of the character. The screen does shake to emphasise it but it's not very clear. Some shots will pass through the head or legs (especially in moments where I can't dodge it at all) but no damage is taken. Perhaps change the shape of the character or the hit area? (I haven't made flash games in a long time so I can't remember or know if it's been changed.)

The controls, the mouse is most likely more fluid than keyboard but during some hectic songs, you 'may' panic to dodge and sometimes the mouse goes out the screen (even in the dimmed light mode) and ultimately you stop moving altogether. Maybe add a border that's not part of the game but just to prevent the mouse from going out of the game screen. In pattern 3, I tended to keep to the edge of the screen and I'd stop moving very so often.

I hope to see more improvements or sequels to this.

Nonako responds:

Thank you so much!

To play hard song you have to be hardcore! xD

The display hitbox of character is the red-white circle at the center of her, the actual hitbox is only 1 pixel at the center of the display hitbox. Most of bullet hell games (maybe every of them) use a same way of mechanic, hitbox is very small compare with player sprite (same as hitbox of bullet). When starting battle, there are auras that I hope will let player focus on the hitbox, may I was wrong to think it is enough. :(

I really hate to use mouse too. :( For the problem with going out of the screen, you can hold left mouse so the character won't be stopped, may still annoying but at least I hope it's better.

I would love to try my best on sequels (if it has) but seems it will be hard. xD Life is so hard. xD

Thank you again!
