Reviews for "Wilt: Exordium"

great game def will enjoy the game to come and it seems like the story is promising too. im hoping for more stuff to be added to the game perhaps? its like a shooter + castlevania in a way for me but I like the challenge and how you kinda have to think a bit how to get the bridge levels/triggers.

I enjoyed the game, though I did take me a few minutes to figure out the grenade bridge part, and I agree with YouNeedABath, the boss' new attacks and complexity did arrive suddenly, and you could have added maybe a couple of the mini-bosses before the final boss to prepare the player for the sudden skilled needed to defeat him, I did defeat him first go but I can see where his/her arguement is coming from, but other than that, great game, awesome concept, and I cant wait to see you expand on it :D

This was quite fun. It was indeed short, as expected.

I didn't like how it suddenly became a lot harder to move around while shooting. It's a good idea, but if there's going to be more shooting in the full game, it's going to get really frustrating rather soon, especially if faster enemies are introduced. I'd suggest some sort of animation to show when the character is going to be moving slow and firing, so players can either learn the timing before they return to full speed, or something like that.

The final boss was fun, fairly clever, but I thought it drug on just a little too long, especially once I got to where I could kill the split off mini-ghosts quickly (despite the aforementioned slow moving while shooting)

I do like a bit more puzzle in my boss fights, but that's just personal preference, and you seemed to be doing okay (albeit a little easy) with the puzzles outside the boss fight.

Oh, and the switch that needed the grenade to be hit was a little irritating, but that's probably due to me trying to throw grenades while jumping, before realizing that it couldn't be done.

the music is what makes it for me, i would really love to know what the song in the title is called so i can nab it for myself if i can please

Don't think Calamaistr uploaded the title theme, but it's based on this (which will be featured in the main game):

The real problem with this game to me lies in the progression of enemies. We as a player are faced with fairly simple tasks of jumping and shooting enemies that are placed in front of us and move along a single axis. It is not very hard to press "s" three times quickly.

Fairly straightforward and doable. The problem arises, however, when we arrive at (what I assumed was) the final boss. Once I am faced with an enemy that is far beyond my practiced skill level and whose exploding mini's can become very difficult to avoid I find it tough to stay engaged as there is no substantial plot to push me along and I feel as though I am being punished by a boss rather than challenged.

I simply got what felt like too close to beating that damn ghost just one too many times for me to care anymore. So, perhaps, more included plot or specific mysteries of the story (where you were before, "why does this place smell like...", yada yada) or the inclusion of a flying enemy prior to the final boss, would've had me more interested or ready to finish the game.

Duly noted!
