A good game, but...
I really enjoyed this game at first (and to be fair, I still do), but there are a few things that really grate on me. However, good before bad.
The music is fantastic. It's a fun track to listen to and it sums up the rush the game can cause. It's fitting for the run and battle style the game uses.
The gameplay is simple. Clearly... but that doesn't make it necessarily boring. I constantly find myself wondering how far I can push it before i have to finally click and use that potion. It may be simple, but there is still an element of timing and rationality to it creating a good difficulty.
However.
The difficulty is part of my problem. Not in the timing or rationale, but in the randomness of events. I often find myself at the end of a lifespan, passing five or six upgrades or item purchases only to die a split second before I can click on the recharge point that finally showed itself. Currently, the only objective left for me is storing 3000 gold. I have played through rounds where I will get to a dragon without a single gold voucher or divine edge having passed my way the entire run. Randomness is good, but the generator seems to favor an increase in armor or weapon upgrade rather than gold or recharge.
The second and only other thing that gets on my nerves is the frequency of attacks. The monsters you encounter can sometimes get in three or four hits without you touching them, which gets especially annoying when saving on gold for the recharge point right behind them or the potion behind that.
But on the whole it's a very good game. With some slight tweaking to the randomness, or the gold given by monsters, it could easily be one of my top favorites on NG. Good work, keep it up.
