Reviews for "Theia"

started out good

i enjoyed the visuals and all that but a more pressing matter is the controls. they are way too sticky and the wall detection is horrid. on level 9 what should have been a simple task of running in a zig zag was quite frustrating because i would randomly stop and get hung up on those crystals even though i was clearly not touching them. after 2 continues i considered stopping right there but i kept going and was faced with another problem by way of pushing rocks. if you arent exactly squared up with the rocks the pushing animation wont start and it doesnt move, if you are pushing the rock from the top of the screen down to the bottom it is extremely difficult to line up and i also found that if your rock is touching a wall you can no longer push it. im not trying to ush the rock further into the wall obviously but if i push it to the left and it touches the wall i am unable to push it up or down as though the wall which is to the side is stopping it from moving. the fact that the game relies on these mechanics of pushing things and acting quickly with precision and the controls lack any kind of precision at all made it impossible for me to finish. i wanted to finish it but it just didnt seem worth it to me because i wasnt enjoying it.

Pretty art, lovely music

But i have to agree with the others :/ the execution was bad. I had to stop at level ten because i kept getting stuck on the walls with the rock when i wasn't even close to them. A wonderful idea though :D i'd love to see an improved version.

ME ANGWEE

I see absolutely no way to beat level 11 besides hacking. Physics can be a little gay at times. Graphics good. Pissed off at level 11.

Eh..

I couldn't get past the animation, reminded me of loony toons to be honest with you, someone used a good word in the reviews, it was a bit awkward. But, still, a fun idea, just needs some adjustments, you're on the right track.

6/10 3/5

Controls...

The animation work, story, and music are all wonderful. But as with a lot of games, crappy controls killed it for me. I found it difficult to navigate around obstacles, or in underground mode, to see where I was going. There is at least one thing you can do to fix this. Change the free-walking style to more of a grid-snap. This way the character won't get caught up on obstacles, and it won't make navigating nearly as frustrating as I found it to be.

Another thing I disliked about this game was the gauntlet of enemies on one of the levels. The control work made this pure luck and guesswork. Hardly a puzzle, in my opinion. If at all possible you should remove levels like this and throw in actual challenges, and not just mind-numbing frustration.

Overall, I give 6/10 because of the animation, music, and story. Better controls would have made this game much more bearable. (I didn't bother playing to even the first boss.)
