Fantastic game - up to a point. The game does not conform to the important rule of there being more than one way to be successful. Around wizard level 14 (for me) the game became an exercise in finding the exact right way to win. There was so little room for variation on strategy after that point it becomes a chore.
I also think there was too much choice with skills, or at least the choices were too expensive.
Too cumbersome and narrow to be truely enjoyable.
Fun. Up to a point.
Both Gemcrafts were fun.
To a point. When it becomes impossible to complete a level, this is no longer fun. When you have to learn every nuance and detail of the game to have a chance of winning, it ceases to be a game, and becomes a job. BOTH games were fun, but there is a point where you will just spend hours throwing tower placement strategies out their to see what works.
Winning is fun. Playing is fun. Difficulty can be fun. Work is not fun.
