Reviews for "The Necronomicon 2.0"

Still creepy

I liked the art before, and I like the art now. The eerie music and jarring effects keep me going even when the game may be frustrating and repetitive. Maybe to increase the strategy, have the deck run out and the game draw if no winner. Then players could "count the cards," to predict what is coming next.

Interesting Application of Lovecraft - A Card Game

Didn't think it would be good but after playing a few levels it gets pretty addictive, the levels of difficulty, finding new cards, and insanity. Anything anybody could want from a card game.

good, but...

its fun, but when the early opponents start throwing out dark ritual, dark young charge, king in yellow, and blessing of hastur all in a row, youre pretty screwed.
thats 30+ damage in a very short amount of time. is it just me getting hit with this?

Plowking74 responds:

The card drawing wasn't as fair as it could have been originally, but could seem to be VERY UNFAIR because the deck was split between the 2 of you. Now I have completely rewritten the dealing code (though you wont see the update until newgrounds approve the change) - basically what happens now in the fix is that you both have a deck of whatever amount of cards are unlocked, and each card will be seen once by each of you. You could literally card count and know what card will appear last by elimination. There will be no duplicate cards appearing until the deck has been exhausted and shuffled.

Improvements!

Yes there are changes and new cards. But the interface is still the same. Card Art is still lacking quality and atmosphere. I said it before and I have to say it again. This game has sooo much potential. BETTER VISUALS and a bit more mind tingling attributes on cards and creatures should do the trick. What about summoning more than one creature?

u can do it!

Plowking74 responds:

A sequel is on the cards (arf arf!) and I hope to include as many features and game mechanics as I can create, including mutiple creatures out. Multiplayer is the holy grail, and requires lots of research, but I'm looking into it.

As for a deck builder, already done. I just don't think I'll be adding it to this version though as it wouldn't really be practical.

Pretty good

I still come back and play this from time to time. Story mode is good, the selection of cards is good and you found some nice art, but most of the 'challenges' in challenge mode are just frustrating - when you start with so few hit points you can be killed in one hit, the only challenge is whether you can be bothered to keep going back and starting again until your opponent has no damage cards in his hand!
