Reviews for "Rayne's World: Level 1"

I've seen this somewhere before

I found this mildly interesting, but only about as interesting as the original Super Mario; this isn't a parody, it's a re-skin. It needs *something* notable about its gameplay, because at the moment it has nothing that the gaming world hasn't gotten bored of about ten years ago. I think your audience at the moment will probably play the final game for about fifteen minutes, then go off and do something else.

The humour from the comic doesn't come across at all well: all you've got is imagery from the comic, overlaid on the game. There's no good reason for it being there, other than to say that this is an LICD Super Mario parody. I think there are other games that would make a better fit for LICD: the Sims springs to mind straight away. A little more work, granted, but then you'd actually be doing something with the LICD concept a little more; pimping up your lovenest and whatnot, occasional delusional fantasies into some form of more platform-based gameplay when Rayne goes off on one into Batman or LotR.

Actual programming and art wise, it's not a bad first foray into making a game. Obviously it's a little buggy right now (and for the smaller version of Rayne, that needs redrawing, not just being shrunk horizontally 50%), but it's reasonably solid. But with all these very positive reviews, that don't seem to mind that you've just made Mario again, I'd like to recommend that you don't stick your feet up. In terms of concept development and innovation, this is sorely lacking.

collision issues hardcore

well the concept seems cool, but i was able to just jump through everything except the ground and the hillbillies. this made it hard near where the second rabbi was,as you need to jump on the boxes.

Great for a work in progress

Reading what most of the previous people have written I am in agreement but its a work in progress and what a great idea for the comic. Love LICD so keep this game developing and I look forward to the finished product.

I love LICD

My only gripes with the game were that it lagged a bit, sluggish controls and was too short.

Only recognized the suckforabuck lady amongst the baddies, I'm looking forward to level 2.

Keep it up.

Wonderful game!

Well done! I agree with some of the other comments though, in that the controls are a bit sluggish, which can be annoying when you keep sliding off the edge of a platform after a jump.

LOVED the inclusion of SFAB Lady, by the way!
