Reviews for "Rayne's World: Level 1"

Pretty fun, needs a little work

I gotta say for a first level it's pretty nice. A lot of things could be done to improve how it runs and plays. As many others have stated before me, the controls are a little spotty. This is likely due to it staling a but and thereby not allowing to gauge distance while in the jump. Good work in the grand scheme with visual and how it's a general Mario parody. Being a fan of LICD I'll have to agree with Kaiddo that with LICD there could be a few more flash games done . Keep up the work and listen to all the reviewers and you'll eventually get some really nice games on here

I liked it, but it wasn't really that great.

As far as Mario Parodies go, this really isn't bad. The problem is that you do have a professional studio backing you on this one, so in that regard, maybe it is.

As a fan of both NG and LICD, I'd like to use this as an opportunity to say that I appreciate the hard, selfless work of those who dedicate their time to bring quality flash media to the community. So thanks for the effort, but in respect to being constructive, I enjoy LICD because it is a creative, hilarious ongoing work of art. I enjoy Mario because it is essentially a timeless classic. When you put them together, it makes someting I am not so sure I fully enjoy.

The quality of the work produced is better than mediocre, but not as great as I would have hoped for. If you're sticking to it, revamp the sound and fluidity of the game.

I respect that you are trying to expand your horizons, and that this could be a potential avenue, but as some other revewiers have mentioned, this is a game I'd play to the end once and probably not go back to it.

(Ps. I still enjoy your work, and started reading LICD from beginning to about the start of LFG in a night. Have another Red Bull and use that freakishly creative mind of yours to come up with something great. Maybe a day in the life of Rayne. Frog King in: hunt of the Vagoo.. you know?)

Concept is good, execution needs a little work.

I have to say, the game looks good. Everything is easily identified in relation to the original, EG tequila bottle=fire flower. However, as others have said, the controls are imprecise. Jumping on and to things is very difficult. I don't know if it's just me, but I also noticed the game lagged a lot. Probably just my computer, but I'm just putting that out there.

With a little cleanup this game could be great, however since it's a rough-draft type thing it's fine as is.

Eh...

I'm hoping this is an experiment before the full game gets released. I love mario-esque platformers, but this game left a lot to be desired. The controls were my main gripe. Jumping and moving around were very imprecise. At one point I was jumping and the jump registered about half a second after I hit the space bar, leaving me to plummet to my death. Also, you need to be on the exact pixel to jump in the correct place. The game leaves absolutely no room for error. I tried to jump on the first block in the game and it took 3 tries before I was perfectly aligned.

I love the comic and I'm a faithful reader. Everything else you've touched (LFG, the video stuff) has turned to gold. With a little polishing, this game could do the same.

I like the characters, though the resolution could use some help (or at least little Rayne could be less squishy).

^.^

LICD is witty as always, well done =) Doesn't have to be anything spectacular to be a flash game, that's why its free XD
Rayne + Mario = one love, what else do you need?

Go make your own and stop bashing.
Then go read the comics.

(because he can? [and apparently did])
