Reviews for "Rayne's World: Level 1"

Needs work.

As mentioned below, it's just not that funny. As a Mario clone, it's ok, but that's about it.

On my computer, the acceleration is too quick and makes it very difficult to control. Also, when scrolling, the character is too close to the edge of the screen - you essentially have to take baby steps to not fall off an edge or run into an enemy.

Sounds are fine. The Rayne character looks like a doofus instead of someone who would actually get laid. Speaking of which, the content is way too tame. A LICD game should be edgy as hell!

That said.... keep trying ... the potential is there... just listen to that Darth Vadar-looking angel on your shoulder.

Controls/hit detection need work.

First off: Bug Report.

If you beat the level play again and die, you get pushed to the end of the level at the last save checkpoint.

Also at the point where you can hit 2 of the coin blocks at the same time, if you do so, the game lags considerably.

The game was relatively fun, but I died a lot due to me hitting the space bar to jump over a gap and I'd fall right into it. Perhaps i'm used to regular Mario games where you can pretty much just hit an enemy on any body part sticking out, but I died a few times on the guys with the big noses landing on their nose.

Decent game overall, just could use some fine tuning. Good Luck!

Missing something

While I love the strip, this game is lacking. As others have said, it's an okay Mario clone, but that's really it. You've replaced Mario with Rayne, koopas with those bible thumpers and goombas with those rednecks (or whatever the fuck they are). All I see here is just a conversion of Super Mario, with very little humor involved, besides the chuckles you get from knowing the source of a certain bad guy. Since the comic's main draw is the humor involved, this needs to be pumped up (in the storyline if there is one, if not through the gameplay itself).

The gameplay is kinda meh. Again, there's little there besides the visuals to differentiate it from Super Mario. Perhaps we're not far enough into the game to see some sort of Rayne-centric mechanic (like perhaps collecting enough tequila to turn him into bra-man), but something needs to be there. Let Mario be Mario, Rayne needs to be Rayne.

I also love this guy!! :D

The least I could do is write a decent review:
Great Mario parody, controls are good, I love the use of the original sounds, and the way you used the prostitute... Absolutely genius! :)
Will there be any Redbull-goodness in the following levels? :)

And for those who don't know who Rayne (the main character in this game) is, check out leasticoulddo.com! Give Ryan and Lar some love, they deserve it!

I love this guy!

...and thats when I bought the horse a prostitute.

Liked the idea of the Super Mario parody game, needs some fine tuning of course. Seemed like some of the power-ups were random. Took me a second to realize that the candle that turns you into a chick is equivalent to super star. I would have to say that the end of the level was my favorite part and the SFAB piranha pipes were just weird and creepy. I cant wait to see this fine tuned and the other levels released!
