Ah... dreams

Ah... dreams. This things of great enigmatic mysticism. I would love to tell you what your dream means, but as each mind is unique and reduplicated, as are the images they produce.

However, I can tell you about a dream I had which this reminded me of greatly. First of all I'd like to mention that I ALWAYS dream in the 3rd person... I've only dreamt in the first about three times.

Anyways, I'm once again a small boy, on an asphalt road which appears to have been newly paved. This road is perfectly straight as it cuts through a barren wasteland/dessert landscape. On either side, the visual distortion from the heat make anything outside the road seem all the more unwelcoming and for some reason, the road isn't hot, which lulls me into a state of comfort with the road. I walk down the road in question, which is lined with de-activated street lights as far as the eye can see. I continue walking down this straight path and in what I can only explain as a movie time lapse montage, years seem to pass by and I've grown into the man I am now. The scenery around me remains the same, the road as pristine as ever, the desert remains a scorched landscape, and the street lights still continue on for MILES. However, now things begin to change and the "sun" begins to set and I feel a sense of great panic and despair. Eventually I'm left alone in great darkness until a loud clashing sound caused by the street lights turning on forces me to open my eyes again. I'm still on the same road but the street lights reveal what I hadn't seen before. The road is filled with broken shard of glass, torn pieces of a car (my grandfather was killed in a car accident 1 year ago), blood splatter. The road itself is filled with cracks and holes that seem to never end. Each their own individual abyss that seem eager to call me to them so that they may consume me. Eventually my fear and panic render me incapable of movement and I stand still as this horde of horrendous shadowy figures seem to rolls towards me. As I feel as though I'm about to be consumed both by fear and by these shadows, I feel something grab my hand and pull me back into the desert. I feel what I can only describe as what someone might feel just before death with one great exception... I open my eyes. I can feel the cool sand between my toes and this feeling of thirst I had is gone with the cool mist in the air around me. Moonlight reveals a beautiful landscape of mountains and cactus. Wolves roam freely around me (my grandfather loved wolves, I have one tattooed on my back for him). I look back and I can see the road of death consuming itself until it's once powerful light no longer exists. I'm still being pulled, someone's leading me by the hand. The hand is SO soft and warm. I know it's a woman's hand but aside from how her hand feels, I know nothing about her because for some reason the moonlight doesn't illuminate her. I feel this great feeling of comfort from her touch and I feel as though I'd be willing to follow her anywhere. I begin feeling as though I were in love with this woman and eventually, I can see a hint of sunlight over the horizon, which allows me to see a faint outline of her shape. Soon she stops walking and she speaks to me without ever saying a word. Almost as though I can feel what she's saying. She's grown tired and can't continue on her own, she tells me she's done what she must, she's saved me from (I draw a blank because I don't know what she said), now I can choose to go fourth into the light on my own. I pick her up into my arms and caress her cheek with my own, making way straight towards the welcoming soft glow of the sun, carrying this woman so that I may see she who had led me out of the (blank). Then, just before I look down to look into her eyes, the dream ends.

Even now I love her. I still want to know what she looked like. Odd huh? To fall in love with what is in the most literal sense, a dream girl. I can only tell you this, if you ever see him again, follow the white man with every once of your will and you maye just find the answers you seek

TheMillz responds:

I don't think that's odd at all dude. By very definition, the dream girl was right where she needed to be. If I do see the white person again, I will try my damndest to keep up with him.

Thanks man.

well i just taking a wack at it but

i think thet the road is your life the scribble reprsenting you means you are a little confused angry inside the darkness is uncertanty in your futere running is your will to live he slowed becouse of the pain which probably means depression speeding up means a snap out of the depression the volly bal nets no idea the gate is probably a good life altering event for the better and the room with no wall probably means that doors will always be open for you but for the way you describe it you are in the depressed stage so why don't you find something to cheer you up and get to the safty area

note: this is a summary of some of the othe reveiws to

note x2 : great flash

Simply Amazing

First of all I must tell you that this flash was awesome..I actually just signed up right now to be able to review about your work.

The way that you told the whole thing..simply amazing..really..it is

Now for my opinion:

First of all i'd like to mention the white figure (yourself)..he doesn't mean anything actually; you said it yourself, he's just that guy from the X-Files that just stayed in your mind..

Now for the setting: you start out in a dark road; darkness symbolises fear and not knowing what will happen...and since what you actually see is a dark road it means that you have no idea what life has in store for you (the road meaning life) and so you are scared of what may happen (hence the darkness). There is rain..that can mean 2 different things:

1) it can mean absolutely nothing; just something that your mind conjured up to compliment your feelings of what is going on OR

2) it can mean what you feel in the rain (do you feel calm in the rain? do you feel panicky and you try as hard as you can to run away from it?) You know..the rain could be the reason for your running..you are running to find shelter; in that case the rain is sybolising your problems falling from nowhere and hitting you hard on your body.

There are trees, but they look flat almost fake: this could mean how you see the world: do you think that the world is a dull place? Are you having any sort of problems in life that may cause you to see the world as a fake paradise? Some people find shelter in nature however THESE trees have no leaves at all and as you said seem fake like cardboard..maybe it means how you feel that you've been fooled throughout your life..the cardboard setting meaning that you feel as though people have been using you.

The character starts running: that's just plain life; you're living your life as he is running on the road. However you come across those nets..the nets that cause you to panick..The nets can be a symbol of how soething so ordinary in your life (ex: a net) can turn out to be such a difficult thing for you to overcome; for example not being able to dance (if dancing is important for you)..for short..not being able to do something that seems ordinary or that you wish you could.

You said that the poles beside the nets seemed like the trees..since the trees are how you see the world around you and the nets are your problems (for short)..the poles could mean the people that you feel are the cause of your problems..they are part of the world (look like the trees) however they are also different and they are holding the problem up in front of you.

The hills till you make it to the village: they may just be a sort of "transition" that your mind made up in it's own way (imagination) or it may mean the winding road..the difficulty in reaching your goals in life (hence the village).

When you arrive you pass a gate and you feel safe; the gate could mean a place where you feel safe from the world..safe from all your troubles..do not be mistaken..the gate can mean a place OR a person..someone you feel safe with..someone you can trust..when you move along you see a cliff leading to the woods..what that means lies in what you see in the woods..do you fear them? Do you think that they are "evil"?

The house (or building)..All there is left of the building is...well..the building itself but without a whole wall and all there is INSIDE it is a fire..fire may represent warmth..you find warmth and shelter in this place..this torn down building: the meaning could be that you find pleasure in the smallest of things..in the simplest of things..even a forsaken building brings you warmth..maybe you are a man that seeks a simple life..away from all the hassle of normal days..hence the simple setting of the house..

Then you wake up before the end of your dream and you want someone to tell you the ending right?

Well no one can tell you the ending of that dream: the ending is what you make out of it..what you make out of your life.

Wow that was long..please pm me and tell me what you think
Btw im 15

TheMillz responds:

Wow man...deep. and only 15? I'll pm you after I write this. Thanks for signing up to tell me how you liked the flash man, means alot. Really.

hmmm

symbol breakdown
"red sky/rain" = depressing, foreboding, you dislike where you are now
"dark" = the unknown, but you run into the darkness, so its a clue to try new things and go new places you never thought you would go, it is there that youll
find what youve been looking for
"Road" = journey, self fulfilling, determination shown in the running, you want to get somewhere and soon
"fake trees" = most importantly that you are surrounded by them, you look around at things around you and feel they are lifeless and/or surreal.
"flashing/xfile reference" = the x files are weird to you, and it represents that what you do in the dream seems weird to you
"3rd person" = you see yourself doing it, self forfilling prophecy, your mind is telling you this is what you can do if you put all your effort into it
"nets" = they are threatening due to fear of being trapped, you dont want to be stuck living the life you have been that seems to be going nowhere perhaps?
"the building" = it has a wall missing, you can see within, everything exposed, all questions answered
"Gate" = this is when you have finally found the thing you have been looking for

sounds to me like a self forfilling prophecy to me (where your mind dreams of what it really wants to do), you seem to be trying to escape from something you find stressful and constant. the point at which you hit the gate is that you are waiting for something, and the gate represents that you ahve achieved it. if You dont know
what it is you seek, youll know when you find it, youll feel the way you did in the dream.

My Advice
Explore new options
Try new things and go new places
Do things you thought you couldnt do
Cut any tiresome commitments, some may be hard, i dont know you personally but a tiresome girlfriend/boyfriend, dead end job etc might be whats weighing you down

our dreams are the only way the subconcioushas of communicating with the concious when you force yourcelf to do something that you dont want to do, in this case because you feel you cant. However, your mind knows you can, so believe in yourself
